There are some large misconceptions about stem cells. Firstly, the Pros of stem cells lie int heir ability to grow into any tissue in the body simply by being stimulated through the appropriate chemical stimuli. The benefits in this lie int heir ability to replace cells and tissues that have been destroyed. Now the tricky part with the Cons, is that their are 2 main sources of Stem Cells : Adult (Stem cells that come from the peripheral blood or bone marrow of a person) and Embryonic (Stem Cells from an Embryo). Both cells have been shown to have the ability to grow int o any type of tissue in research circumstances. The research community is split on which is better as their is data pointing towards both being correct. Because of the religious and political issues surrounding Embryonic, it is best to push Adult stems cells as the top choice. However, in the long run it is cheaper and easier to get Embryonic.

Wow well stem cells are cells that have not be dignated to a task yet so a stem cell can be anything. For example you need liver stem cells can become liver cells. Have brain damage we are pretty sure any repair to nervous cells takes forever if at all but a stem cell could simply become new nervous cells replacing the dead cells. So spinal repair would be possible. Cool huh? I also believe they are not subjected to rejection problems so very cool.

Con - One getting them.............best and easist source aborted Fetuses so religion and conservatives get involved............kind of playing god as well.

Pros: Stem cells have the ability to re-generate any tissue or organ.

Cons: As long as the religious nut-jobs have control of the laws, it will be rather difficult to explore this technology to any practical end.
