FAA projections for aircraft handling are increasing. Need to find best ways to determine impacts - first known to me was to note the last time CONUS had days with little to none flights. The last time this happened were the 3 days that followed Sept. 11th. A study was done and results showed average CONUS temperature was ~2-3 degrees warmer. Was this the cause, or an anomaly? Are studies continuing? Are there other ways to measure these affects? What can be done? - hybrid aircraft?

I recently read somewhere that studies were still be preformed. The temp. was higher due to the lack of global dimming that is caused by the airplanes. I think that jet exhaust does impact the atmosphere. Though its interesting that without it, global warming would create an even warmer environment yet.

Studies are still a bit ambiguous. With volcano eruptions, forest fires, etc.. what does the most damage? Most of these studies need to be done for many more years to be conclusive.. and without the "faking" data that is associated with some done in the early 70's and 80's

The atmosphere impact of jets has little to do with the jet engines. It has to do with con-trails. (see the link below for more information)

And yes the study is continuing. Look into "global dimming" for more information.

If planes fly higher, maybe 75000 feet, then the fumes would be sucked by the atmosphere, and even the ozone layer will not be effected. But its difficult, as at that altitute the air pressure will be very high, and commerciall built planes would havew to modified at astonishingly high cost.
