Considering heaven for me, would be my utter hell in those circumstances?
Or would I go to hell, having not accepted christ on my deathbed, where I would be able to eternally experience my masochistic tendancies, therefore making it my heaven?

Also for arguments sake, let's say I'm SO masochistic that all of hells torments would be enjoyable to me, whereas living in eternal rapture and joy would drive me insane.

This is a PHILOSOPHICAL QUESTION, intended for me to expand my knowledge and understanding, NOT to ridicule anyone's beliefs.
Please, no biblical quotes, JUST self-made opinions are what I'm after, thanks.

Sigh....no, I'm not a masochist, it's just an essential part of my question. What part of 'Philosophical Question' did you not understand?

LOL Tiny...if you can't learn from anyone else, who wrote the books you read at school?

I notice some people are taking this a little too Literal. Don't, because it's far from it.

I'm not looking for salvation, hell, heaven, approval, agreeance or ANYthing other than an opinion on this far from perfect postulation!

Owww...my head hurts. I ask myself questions like that, too, though not so....masochistic. Like, I figure, at school, all the popular people are weird, which means I'm normal. But if weird IS normal, then normal must be weird, and then I start thinking, what IS normal? so I get all confused because while I may be deep, I'm not deep enough to figure that question out. So I guess any of your possibilities could be possible, but which, I don't know. Guess you'll just have to wait and find out for yourself.

IGNORE THEM. READ THIS!!!

Masochism doesn't work that way. It's like asking if a masochist would 'get off' if they were hit by a car.

Physiologically, psychologically, spiritually and physically a masochist would be ill-equipped (philosophical or not) to handly being hit by a car, or being thrown into a pit of fire and brimstone for that matter.

Modern sadomasochism (SM for short -- NOT S/M as they are 'one') relies on a system. The system is built on explicit trust between the sadist and masochist via explicit communication between the two partners.

In sadomasochistic "sexual" experiences (a misnomer because they are often non-sexual situations by nature), the 'scene' is governed and controlled by the bottom, or masochist. The sadist, while filling his/her role, is merely a pawn and a method by which the masochist is able to achieve and explore the darker territories of pain and pain-threshold boundary breaking.

A safe word is often given at the beginning of a 'session'. If and when that word is spoken, all activity stops immediately. Some SM couples have varying degrees of safe words, akin to "ouch. that hurts" to "okay. hang on a sec. I've gotta regroup". This safe word, as it implies, keeps things safe and the situation from getting out-of-hand.

So, having briefly explored the nature of the SM or sadomasochistic relationship -or at least a primer, it is impossible to determine the effects of hell's torments on the physical well-being on a true masochist.

A masochist knows that delving into these territories unguided and unprotected can result in their demise. Therefore, if pushed into an uncontrolled situation rapidly changes sadomasochism into torture.

One last footnote: there is no hell but the one we choose to experience on a daily basis.

I hope the info helps. More over, I hope everyone things I'm going to hell for providing information and educating you.

In order to further your knowledge in these matters you have to understand them. They are spiritual in nature so to try to apply earthly knowledge to them are useless. If you don't really know what hell is or even if it exists, then why would you want to be there? The same applies to Heaven. Your current state of "belief" is useless. Deathbed conversion? Why bother! Jesus is not your get out of hell card. He died for many other reasons! Heaven is above and hell is below. What about in between? Your life now is your eternal destiny! Hope this helps to put a little perspective on your somewhat intriguing question.

The way I understand heaven it is a construct of paradise. Although religions will tell you or expand upon ideas that will favor most people or the core of their believers I would submit to you that heaven would be what you make it, your personal paradise. In this scenario one persons hell can be another person's heaven.
I'm not sure this counts as a purely philosophical question as heaven and hell are ideas created/documented in religious texts. Philosophically I would stand by my previous comment that one person's hell can be another person's heaven.

well if you believed in christianity, yet did not accept it, then yes, in strictly christian terms you would go to hell. maybe purgatory depending on the severity of your actions/inactions.
but if we are speaking in general terms, then being a masochist, you wouldn't necessary go to hell. we have no idea what god is really like or what heaven or hell is or even if heaven or hell exists. even if they do exist, i am pretty sure they won't be like what we think they should be like.
but to be specific to your question.....
it all comes down to what you believe in i guess. if you believe in the christian heaven and hell, then by being a masochist, you would go to hell. hell has nothing to do with your personal enjoyment. i am sure they will find a way down there to make it uncomfortable for you. like say for instance, maybe it won't be about physical pain. maybe it could be something like making you watch terrible episodes of full house over and over again endlessly without stop forever. basically, i think hell caters to your worst fears, not just physical.

Since you seem to enjoy it SOOO much, go ahead and go to hell-and consider it "heaven" tho you may end up with something different than what you bargained for, b/c "hell" is eternal separation from God, not eternal thrashings- for Jesus Christ died so that all MAY believe, so you have a CHOICE. Just be sure of the one you make. It's for eternity.

Where ever you would be happiest, would be your heaven. And If you truly believe in your heaven and hell, then it MUST be true. Go on live a little! Try it out, it never "hurts" to try :) Hey I might see you on the flip side...Thank you for being you! Have a great day!

It depends. First of all, do you consider yourself a masochist? And in what terms? Do you believe in a heaven? If you are a pseudo-masochist, maybe you might go to heaven.

I beleive that you create your own versions of heaven and hell. I personally don't find clouds and harps soothing.. my heaven would be much more interesting.

I beleive that whatever your worst fears are - is your Hell. All very personalized to each person. But who can really prove the existance of either.

If that is the way you feel I would try my darnest not to go there. How can you expand your knowledge and understaniding on other people's opinons? I can't see any enrichment in other's thoughts. Are you looking to get approval or to see how many agree with you?
