No, but certain diseases tend to show up together.
A shellfish allergy does not cause "itchy lips" rather it would cause your face to swell up, break out in hives, and in serious cases trouble breathing (aka anaphylaxis.)

I really don't know if it does have some scientific evidence or if someone made it up and now it has been floating around out in the world of 'parenting myths'. I know that as a little one, it is easier to overfeed a baby when giving them formula, since lots of babies like the sucking and people tend to think they need to eat more than they do. But that is just as likely to happen with a breastfed baby if the parents are not 'hep' to the fact that the baby just likes the comfort. I know plenty of formula fed babies that are not at all overweight and don't have issues with eczema and asthma. There are too many variables in such a claim, that I can not imagine a direct correlation could be formed. I wouldn't worry too much.

I have eczema but I don't have asthma. It could be that your itchy lips are caused by a shellfish allergy. That means crabs, shrimp, lobster, etc.

eczema is not at all connected to asthma. one is an autoimmune response and one is a respiratory disorder triggered by stress and exercise...if you are sensitive to iodine in seafood you should not eat it since one time you may have a violent reaction and it could be fatal.
also one shrimp is a shrimp and many are still called shrimp...there is no such word as shrimps....unless you are talking about little short men...lol

I don't think that is always the case, though it is usually the case that people who drink milk and eat wheat suffer from both these conditions regularly. Go to www.milksucks.com, or find out about the effects of the major 4 allergenic foods: wheat, dairy, corn and soy at www.dogtorj.net. Its really quite mind blowing, and if it weren't for internet publishing we may never have had access to this unbiased information.

what you're talking about is the allergic triad: eczema, asthma, and allergic rhinitis ... if you have one, you are LIKELY to have the other but this is not always the case.

It sounds like you have an allergy to shell fish. Stop eating them, as serious side effects could start occurring. Your skin and breathing issues are definite indicators.

it's not necessarily always true, but there is a general relationship. often one will accompany the other. it also appears that you have a shellfish allergy. make sure you mention that when you go to any doctor.
