Now this question is not meant to cause heated retorts. Think of it more as a simple debate amongst friends. Which branch is the best and why? Don't leave out any detals. I, for one, plan to join the Air Force when I go to college. I like the USAF, but I come from an Army family. And then there's the Marines and the Navy, too. So do tell, which branch truly rules?

If your intentions are to possibly leaned towards a career I would highly reccommend the choice you have already made. The Air Force is an excellent choice family wise also. If you like to spend months onboard a ship, then by all means join the Navy. If you like walking, marching or bouncing around in a vehicle, join the Army. If you think you are the macho type and enjoy running errands on a ship, plus like to march or strut around like a tin soldier and think your the badest *** in town, go with the Marines. It's as simple as that. There is no such thing as the best, we're all in this together and should act as such. To me there is no single hero, in my personal opinion anyone who puts on a uniform and serves his country (USA)honorably for a full tour of duty in any branch of the services deserves to be called a hero.

Mellencamp JC is right. It's really difficult to say which branch is the best since they are all interdepedent on each other. If you took out any one of them, the other braches would not be as effective. My family has served or is currently serving in each of the main braches. My Grandpa was in the Navy, my Dad was in the Air Force, and I have uncles and cousins in the Marines and Army.

The Marines and the Air Force have become increasingly dependent on each other in modern warfare, and are usually the ones who see the most action. Someone has to go in on the ground and do the dirty work, but giving them air support is just as important. The Air Force requires a lot of training, and usually requires you to be more educated then the other branches. If you're up for it, then go USAF!

If you want to know who rules, look at the mission, and that will give you the answer.

Anything involving the water- US Navy
Anything involving the air- US Air Force
Powerful land juggernaut- US Army
Quick strike force that can come at you from any direction- US Marine Corps.

Which branch is better is determined by the requirements of the mission. The marine move quick and pack a powerful punch, pack their own air support, as well as ship support from the navy, but they don't have much staying power, this allows any marine unit to be on site in 96 hr (4 days). The army really can't be stopped once they get going, but it takes longer for them to get on the scene due to the vast amounts of heavy equipment.

Having said that---------Semper Fidelis.

Let me help you out here. The Marines tend to die in "big numbers" for a reason. They still ride around in the back of trucks in Iraq. Hence why you hear about 16 Marines were killed in.... today". It's rare they ever take just 1 or 2 casualties. Not the smartest thing in the world. The Army is known for doing stupid things also. (We have the longest deployments out of all the branches. Hmmm). The Navy is bureaucratic crap. In the Air Force, you have to actually be knowledgeable in your career field to be promoted. (This is a good thing). Promotions take longer in the AF and Navy than in the Army or Marines. The AF has better food, better barracks, and just a better life style in general than in any of the branches. It's your choice. Let me leave you with this, if I had it to do all over again I would definitely have joined the Air Force!!

I think we all know the answer to that question. Marines do it all, and we do it better, faster, and more violently than anyone else in the world.

Ok, after reading some of the other answers, I should add that Marines are not stupid, nor are we macho tin men. We are, however, highly trained, highly motivated members of an elite fighting force. On occasion, yes, some of us die. But then again, aircraft get shot down, too, and those Air Force boys and girls are just as dead. Yes, you will hear that 10 or 15 Marines got killed at one time, but you may not hear as much that we inflicted three times that many casulties on the enemy. We do not deviate from our mission, ever. We have a job to do, we do it. And we do it with pride, honor, and unwavering bravery. To those above who would belittle my beloved Marine Corps, I say this: Unless you've walked in our boots, and felt our pride, and accomplished our missions.........SHUT UP !!!!!

There really isnt one branch better than the other.Think of it as one unit. For example a tree it also has many branches if you cut down 2 or 3 branches is it still the same tree it was before you cut it? No.All of our forces work together as one unit.I am a 6 year US veteran and saw this first hand. However if you feel that the Airforce is your first choice then go with your heart. Thanks for your politeness and courtesy.Good luck with your new career.
