Short answer- Working does create the money to make things happen in your life and your future.
But you can only be productive for so many hours a day or a week. Once you go over that peak of production, you are less effective at your job and on your own time. You will find yourself using your own time just to recover from work and your be exhausted wherever you are! You will also resent the time you had to give up if you do "Make it"

So, what is the best way to balance?

Have enough to pay the bills and save a little at a time. "Getting there" takes a game plan.

The best plan is one where those you want to be with are involved! Sit down with your family and decide together what works best for all of you. Put together a game plan of how many hours a week or day you are both willing to commit to that helps get you to goal.

If you find the goal is too big to attain right now, then rebuild the stairway. Sometimes a few smaller steps makes the climb a little easier and the sacrifice in time to get to the next landing is worth the walk!

Also, involving those you want to be with gives you a cheering and coaching section. It now becomes the family goal, not just yours. And keeping in mind that recharge time helps and is just as important as work time makes reaching the goal more fun then drudgery. Everyone knows where you are and why and the few things you do have to miss are agreed on buy all and less stressful for all.

Have little wins or prizes for everyone at steps along the way. "We all want to have this much saved or invested or both buy this date.." When you make it or even come close, it is party time!

Before you know it, you will not only have reached your goals but will have enjoyed the climb!!!

The first thing to do is decide what kind of 'life' you are seeking. Family moments can't be bought - even with LOTS of money. Those moments shouldnt be traded if possible. We forget to stop and look at ourselves - we worry so much about 'happiness' that we skip over contentment. Are your bills paid each month? Do you have enough spending money to enjoy your life (moves, golf, simpler things)? If so, perhaps you're already content but don't realize it.
