My Husband is in the Air-force, and he just joined like last March, He is 22 years old. He first went to the Armed Forces Office. Then they told him more about the air force. Then he took his test and they told him the jobs that were available to him. But you can choose so many jobs that you want. Then after so much experience you can fly your jet. So go on and make something with your life. Go talk with a recruiter.

I'm not an expert, but look in your phone book and look for "Air Force Recruiter". Get online and check out your favorite colleges and see if they have an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corp) program. Get online and find the Air Force Web site. As for connections, check with your high school counselling program, they should be able to connect you to people that will help. Good Luck and hopefully you are soon off into the Wild Blue Yonder!

Go to college, you need a degree to fly. A recruiter can point you in the right direction, but I think they favor technical degrees (math, science, engineering). Get, or stay, in shape, you'll have to pass a physical to be accepted. Be prepared to fly something else, just getting into a flight program doesn't guarantee you'll be in fighter jets, you'll be assigned according to the need of the service you select when you're done. Get your vision checked, if it's bad you're out before you start. Also, if your grades are good and you've been active in school activities, consider pursuing an academy, graduating from one of them can set you up for life. Good luck.

I have been interested in the air force for quite some time now. My dad was in the air force so of course I have gotten alot of good tips from various sources. The first bit of advice that I can offer is to seek out someone who has been in the air force, since you want to be a fighter pilot, consult someone who was an officer. Your going to have to go in as an officer if you want to fly yourself, so you need a college degree. Another piece of advice is to only talk to a recruiter to ask questions, not to be told things, and when you get anwsers continue to ask. Recruiters are like used car salesman, they will probe your character and tell you things to what seems to be for your own benefit. They will even hound you with large bonuses to do something you do not want to do. I would say only talk to them when you are ready to get in for sure.
Another good source is the air force official site www.airforce.com, it is not a like a recruiter, they tell it like it is and you can navigate just about anything you want to know about, even how to get started at your age.
All in all, ask and ask and ask questions, everything that you are unsure of or just want to know. Go to a local vets center or talk to your school guidence office and seek out experienced people of the air force. Do this before you sign or agree to anything. If you do get a contract in order with a recruiter, share it with someone you trust who has experience, so they can find if it is all in order and they can explain it to you so that you understand it fully.

go to college get a degree and if you are in perfect health then you could become an officer or if you want go to your nearest recuter and get started on the paper work so as soon as you graduate from high school you can go straight in. since Ive been in the service Ive loved every day of it but boot camp will probably scare you. keep your choices open on the different branches i chose the air force and i love it

Speak to a recruiter asap, you can be earning a stripe while still in your senior year of high school. They can also be preparing you for your testing and even take you to an Air Base now, so you can check it out. My son chose a career in the USAF and I am so proud of him, and he is extremely happy with his choice as well. Good Luck to you, and I think that it is wonderful that even with all that is going on with our Country and others that young men like you have the courage to pursue their dream.

The website will give you info, but you should really see a recruiter or his/her superior for a picture of what you will really do. You have to have 20/20 vision if you want to fly with Iceman, so I hope you don't have glasses or you should get lasic surgery to correct your vision. You also have to work your *** off to get to that level. Many hours in simulations.
