I just don't get how a church can say that a person is hated or not accepted by god because they are gay. God made out of love with love and it even states in the Bible that we are his children and he loves us no mater what. He may not approve of our choices, but he still loves us.....right???

* To add to this, I am not gay as so many that have answered this question has assumed. I also don't believe that God hates anyone. I most importantly was just trying to point out that the people that say this and churches that preach this are hypracrits. The Bible is forever changing as is the meanings to better fit the church at the given time. Who knows what the Bible really said in the begining any ways, befor the printing press was introduced only preachers had them and THEY WHERE HAND WRITTEN! So who knows what things where added or taken away down the raod. And other than "though shall not lay with another man as you would your wife" does it say anything about gay in the bible especially the part about hating it!

As fara s my beliefs go, I donot believe in the instatute of a church. I believe that some of todays churches use what the want and discard the rest, and I have been to many many churches and came to this conclussion. I believe in God, I believe in love, but mostly I believe that as long as we are wholey good people, (that doesn't exclude gays) that God will love us and accept us into his house. I believe that our way into heaven is threw the honesty and good will we as man do threwout life. We will see heaven as long as we are a good person. and No man or woman should be judged for any thing! P.S. AND BY THE WAY, BEING GAY IS NOT A CHOICE!!!!!!!!

It does not hold up to logical analysis. If God loves sinners, and homosexuality is a sin (in the church's eyes), then it should follow that God loves homosexuals just as much as people who cheat on their tax returns.

I'm not a Christian, though, so I can't say for sure.

Correction (Re: Wording of your question...) "God does NOT hate the "person"...He hates the "sin" in his/her life."

This is the concept, which I'm sure you've heard: "Love the sinner (i.e. 'person'), Hate the sin"

we're all 'sinners' and God loves everyone. He does NOT condone the sin in our lives, whether it be homosexuality, love of money, idolatry, pride, gluttony, sloth, etc..etc...

...and as such, irreguardless - we will be held accountable one day. (and I believe 'Redd' needs to re-read her Bible...because even though he doesn't judge us right 'now' (John 12:47), there will come a day when he will...(John 12:48, 1 Cor. 4:4-5, 2 Tim. 4:1-3, Hebrews 10:30, 1 Peter 1:17, 1 Peter 4:5)

*and one last point I'd like to make regarding God's judgement (straight from scripture...)

"When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world." 1 Cor. 11:32 (NIV)

People really shouldn't get offended if they are told/read that God doesn't approve of certain lifestyle habits...It may be hard to hear - true...however, it is for our own good.

I hope this clearifies your understanding.
God Bless.

P.S. I am a Christian, and I do NOT practice discrimination (in any form)...

of course God loves the sinner. that is the whole basis of sending his son to die for the sins of others. He love the world so much that he sent his only begotten son that whoever believes in Him should not parish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). If he hated people (homosexuals included) he wouldn't have had to save anyone. He's God. He's in control. He could do whatever He wants. It's not the sinner that is hated. It's the disobedience (i.e., sin) that is hated. While He will always love His creation, not all of His creation is guaranteed eternal life with Him. However, everyone will spend eternity somewhere (will that be smoking or non-smoking?) The time to make that decision is now. Before you get to the end. Then it will be too late.

I do not believe that God hates homosexual people, He just hates the sin that they are committing. In the Bible it states that when a man and a women have sex they become one, and He never intended us to pervert and damage friendships with the same sex by trying to accomplish the impossible. Homosexual people can not have sex. I have some male friend's who believe that they are gay, and it has brought them nothing but pain; God desires to save them for this. Homosexuality is like any other sin it is an imitation of something good (marriage bed), but it is only that. In every homosexual relationship that I have ever seen there is one person who carries out the male and another who carries out the female role. If they really are attracted to people of the same sex why would this occur, because again it is an imitation of God intended design; they need the real thing. All sin has consequences to ourselves, and the people around us, and God warns us so he won't have to see us in pain. If you are a Christian you should love people that believe that they are gay, because that's what Jesus would do. That also means that you are obligated to express that their behavior is not God's best for their lives, because we are called to love them.

In no way does God hate gay individuals. He love everyone in the world regardless of what that individual does. He does disaprove of their choice to be gay. In my church a practicing gay person cannot be a member in full fellowship. God has rules and regulations just like the law down on earth. If you break that law or rules their are punishments that have to be dealt out. he punishes them for what they do. What those punishments are I don't know its up to god but if they break a law of God and practicing homosexuality is breaking a law of God, the Law of Chastity, they cannot enter the Kingdom of God or Heaven as the world puts it. God didn't make an individual gay from birth it is through their own choice to be this way. They can turn away from this and repent and God will accept them once again.

God hates the law being broken. He stated that for man to lie with man or woman with woman is an abomination in His sight. If we break Gods laws we deserve punishment. No matter how much we are loved if we break the law we are punished. If I jump out of an airplane and say "God is a God of love", It will not help the fact that I have broken the Law of Gravity and am heading for my demise. God wants all to come to Him.

Think of it this way... You have violated the law and face a $50,000 fine. You tell the judge that you are truly sorry for your crime, but he answers, "So you should be -- you have broken the law! Now, can you pay this fine?" He can only acquit you if the fine is paid. If someone else pays your fine, then he can let you go, but he must have "grounds" on which to release you.

The reason we need a substitute (a savior) to pay our moral "fine," is because we have broken God's Law. To see how much we have transgressed this Law (the Ten Commandments), we will go through some of them -- Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen something? Have you ever lusted after another person? If you answered "Yes" to these questions, you admit that you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart, and you have to face God on Judgment Day! If you have used His name in vain, then you are guilty of "blasphemy" -- you've substituted God's holy Name for a curse word. Perhaps you've hated someone, then the Bible says that you are a murderer. You have violated God's holy Law, and you're in BIG trouble. On Judgment Day, you will be found guilty and end up in Hell. That's why you need the Savior. Merely being sorry for your sins, or confessing them to God won't help you. You must turn from sin (repent), and your faith must be in Jesus Christ alone. He is the only "grounds" for God to grant mercy towards you. If you're not sure of your salvation, make Psalm 51 your own prayer.

Ok, first things first. God hates sin. Any sin. If a church specifically says that God hates people who say they are gay, that church is wrong.

Now, does God like the fact that we continue to sin? No. He wants us to stop.

Does God like homosexuality? No. He destroyed two cities for that and more. Why? Because the people would not repent.

God does love us...however...we have to love Him first. If we love Him first, then what we do after that will show God how much we love Him. It's a relational thing, not a religious thing.

We are His children, but He will only recognize us if we have identified ourselves with Christ, His One and Only Son.

I don't believe that God hates gay people. From my understanding to be gay is not a decision, it is how a person is born. I am not a fan of organized religion and I believe that what the bible tells us may not be its true intentions.

The Roman empire has a reputation for eliminating most things they did not like. How do we know that what survived is truly what was intended, for example the bible. How do we know that gay people were seen by the Romans as taboo and therefore they included their beliefs into the bible to stop society from this?

I think you have a rather healthy (and correct view). However each church is different. I'm not Christian though. The bible has been translated and revised so many times... and then people pick and chose which passages to believe. I just have to shake my head in wonder.
As long as you try to live out your life in peace and harmony harming none I can't see how that would ever be a "sin."

God loves us, yes, but you have to take all the bible in context. You can't just pull out one verse. The entire bible points to one thing....that we (humans) need salvation, and that there is nothing we can do to erase our sin. That is why the entire message of the bible points to Jesus Christ, who lived a life without sin, and if we believe in Him, His righteousness will be imputed to us.

That being said, throughout the bible, we are told to repent of our sins. Is being a homosexual worse than being an adulterer? A murderer? Sin is called sin in the bible.

I don't know why, in this particular time on the planet, this issue is such a hot button topic. It's a sin. Period. That's according to the bible. Now, if you don't believe the bible..okay, that's up to you.

Yes God loves us...but as Jesus told the woman who was caught in adultery...and He saved her from being stoned...."go and sin no more". God sees a heart, whether it cares more about following Him than following our own desires. People get so angry about this, I know.
