Christians should end their prayers to God "in Jesus' name". "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do--(John 14:13)
Mary was a human born in sin, whereas Jesus was a perfect human. This Scripture reminds us who is the mediator between man and God: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

I think that having a Virgin birth is about the most miraculous and holy thing that could happen to any woman and the fact that she alone was chosen amongst all other women to be the Mother of Jesus makes her about the next closest thing you can get to God, as well as the most spiritual woman in all of history.
Praying to Mary certainly can't hurt!

After a lengthy seen an proper answer, i determined to allow a pleased madison quote effective voice my thoughts: "Mr. Madison, what you've merely stated is between the most insanely idiotic issues I actually have ever heard. At no element on your rambling, incoherent reaction were you even close to to at least some thing which will be seen a rational idea. actually everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no factors, and would God have mercy on your soul." in end: Catholics do no longer pray to idols, nor do they worship Mary. the position does the bible insruct to ask others to wish for you? The Pope isn't given divine prestige. The bible supplies the Pope power and credibility, see Matthew 16:18. do not attempt the petros/petra rebuttal, there replaced into no large difference in Koine Greek. indulgences? you're conscious that's 2008 proper? purgatory has no longer some thing to do with little ones, it really is purification in the previous Heaven. you're wondering(in case you may call it that) of limbo again, actually everyone isn't praying to the statue any better than you're praying to a photo. straight forward answer is catholics do not worship idols. They do undergo in thoughts salvation comes from Christ, except they think they ought to also actively paintings to do reliable in Christ's call somewhat of sitting on the pc making 0.5-baked claims about different Christians.

"Just because"? Yeah right, virgin births happen all the time. Don't they now?
Seriously, Catholics don't claim Mary to be a part of the Holy Trinity, but that does not mean she should devoutly be ignored.
Mary is our Mother and Queen of the New Davidic Kingdom
John 19:26 - Jesus makes Mary the Mother of us all as He dies on the Cross by saying "behold your mother." Jesus did not say "John, behold your mother" because he gave Mary to all of us, his beloved disciples. All the words that Jesus spoke on Cross had a divine purpose. Jesus was not just telling John to take care of his mother.
Rev. 12:17 - this verse proves the meaning of John 19:26. The "woman's" (Mary's) offspring are those who follow Jesus. She is our Mother and we are her offspring in Jesus Christ. The master plan of God's covenant love for us is family. But we cannot be a complete family with the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Christ without the Motherhood of Mary.
John 2:3 - this is a very signifcant verse in Scripture. As our mother, Mary tells all of us to do whatever Jesus tells us. Further, Mary's intercession at the marriage feast in Cana triggers Jesus' ministry and a foreshadowing of the Eucharistic celebration of the Lamb. This celebration unites all believers into one famiy through the marriage of divinity and humanity.
John 2:7 - Jesus allows His mother to intercede for the people on His behalf, and responds to His mother's request by ordering the servants to fill the jars with water.
Psalm 45:9 - the psalmist teaches that the Queen stands at the right hand of God. The role of the Queen is important in God's kingdom. Mary the Queen of heaven is at the right hand of the Son of God.
1 Kings 2:17, 20 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom, the King does not refuse his mother. Jesus is the new Davidic King, and He does not refuse the requests of his mother Mary, the Queen.
1 Kings 2:18 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom, the Queen intercedes on behalf of the King's followers. She is the Queen Mother (or "Gebirah"). Mary is our eternal Gebirah.
1 Kings 2:19 - in the Old Testament Davidic kingdom the King bows down to his mother and she sits at his right hand. We, as children of the New Covenant, should imitate our King and pay the same homage to Mary our Mother. By honoring Mary, we honor our King, Jesus Christ.
1 Kings 15:13 - the Queen Mother is a powerful position in Israel's royal monarchy. Here the Queen is removed from office. But now, the Davidic kingdom is perfected by Jesus, and our Mother Mary is forever at His right hand.
2 Chron. 22:10 - here Queen Mother Athalia destroys the royal family of Judah after she sees her son, King Ahaziah, dead. The Queen mother plays a significant role in the kingdom.
Neh. 2:6 - the Queen Mother sits beside the King. She is the primary intercessor before the King.
There's much, much, more about Mary where that came from. You would be wise to investigate.

No one, least of all Catholics, would say that Mary is herself divine, or part of the Trinity! That kind of statement shows a general misunderstanding of what it is Catholics believe.
Yes, Catholics honour and revere the saints, Mary most of all, because they lived lives completely devoted to God. Since they are alive still, in Heaven, we ask them to pray for us to God, not because we think that we can't pray to God ourselves--we do that too--but because it is good to ask others to pray for us. Just as when we have a need, we might turn to family and friends to pray for us (as it tells us to in the Bible), as Catholics, we believe that the Saints also can and do pray for us as well, as something of an "extended family." Mary gets the most requests for prayer of the saints, because, as the one closest to God, because she is Jesus' Mother, we have faith that she truly is praying for us, and doing so effectively!

Absolutely- Mary is not part of the Trinity.
Let me ask you this.....Have you EVER asked anyone yo pray for you? EVER? For any reason at all???
That is intercessory prayer, and that is what 'praying' to Mary is- remembering that prayer means ASKING.
Why Mary?
Think back to the Hebrew Scriptures. (Old Testament) Think of Solomon.....how many wives did he have? And who was his queen? His first wife? His favorite wife? the first to bear him a child? The first to bear him a son?
Oh, nooooooooooooo.
Solomon was WISE.
His queen was Bathsheba, his MOTHER.
And in scripture, we see that people would approach Bathsheba and ask HER to ask Solomon for a favor on their behalf- and he would grant it.
THAT is why we go to Mary. Oh, we go straight to Jesus, too. It's just that virulent anti-Catholics are so hung up on Mary, they don't really see what is going on.
Yes, she was human....but she was a very special human- chosen from all time to bring the Word of God into the world. To give God Flesh...to hold the Savior of the World in her body and bring Him to birth.
And she said YES to God.....we should all trust in the Lord so perfectly.
Mary was- and is- one incredibly special woman.

Catholics don't pray to God through Mary any more than you pray to God through a friend that you asked to pray for you.
Catholics and many other Christians believe in the Communion of Saints where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.
As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.
With love in Christ.

That is exactly why they pray to God through Mary. She was a human and therefore more subject to human sympathies and pain and can therefore kind of put in a good word with God, if you know what a mean. She is supposed to be motherly and caring, so people pray to her more.

I can't figure that one out myself, but I do know that she is not a part of the trinity! there is a lot of things that Catholics do that makes no sense.. like talking to the man in the box (confession) and all kinds of stupid stuff that the Bible never instructed anyone to do.
we pray to Jesus because HE takes our prayer petition to God, there is no need for anyone else.

way back in the late 1400's all catholics were fearful of God(that's where the phrase "God-fearing" came from) and because women were known to be forgiving and delicate and nurturing and all that stuff, Mary the mother of God would be more understanding and less likely to punish than God when confessing sin.

Because they believe because Mary was the mother of Jesus she have a special connection him and that she can intercede in their behalf like no one else. Catholic also does not believe in the priesthood of the believer. That’s why they confess their sin to a Priest instead of getting on the kneed and ask God to forgive them..
