Chores. We give our kids certain things that must be done before we get home from work or they don't get to do whatever we are doing that night (library, movie, swimming, etc). Reading.... you can ask for written essays or oral reports. My mom used to ask us to know one new thing everyday. Boys & Girls Club is always good if you have one nearby. And they aren't expensive. Also, area churches have VBS this time of year - and they aren't usually expensive either. Most important - Have Fun!

Get rid of the video games...they do nothing but turn their brains to mush and give them no reason to get fresh air. Get them some books, assign them some chores, encourage them to use their imagination and write a story or something, get some board games, etc.
