I have them too..Usually there will be a circumstance in the dream that requires me to act, ie: run, walk, answer the phone, make a phone call, jump...etc. in the dream I cannot move..in real life I am also trying to move and cannot..Sometimes I know it is a dream but cannot move enough to wake myself up...I HATE these dreams..When I finally can move my body, I can wake up....It is caused from poor blood circulation and do not sleep on your back..It will happen every time..

These are simply vivid nightmares. I would strongly recommend intensive hynotherapy to get to the source of these terrible dreams. Do the attacks happen at just one place, or everywhere you go? Since I have no direct evidence to support or refute the existence of demons, I'm not going to affirm or deny this possibility, but I will say that this scenario is unlikely.
You didn't mention how long you've been having the dreams, what sudden changes or betrayals you've experienced lately, if there's been a death of someone close to you, or if you've moved to a new location. Sudden life changes can trigger subconscious anxieties that will manifest themselves while you ( try to ) sleep.
We moved frequently when I was a child; every time we moved into a new house I began to walk in my sleep and keep my parents up all night with worry ( I would actually go outside ), I always stopped after a short time after adjusting to the new home.
Figure out what's bothering you, and address it at the conscious level; fatigue and sleep-deprivation will eventually affect your physical health as well.

Okay, so it seems to me from what you're saying, that you're a medium.. In my religion mediums can be contacted by the undead.. Basically demons, dead people that can't except their death and still roam the earth... And have the ability to contact certain people.. I am a medium too. I have dreams very similar to yours.. You have 2 options..
1 Go to a sleep specialist.. They can prescribe sleeping pills.. Which may help you not have such vivid dreams, and advise you to talk to a counselor about these dreams..
2 In these dreams try your hardest to focus on the persons feet, you can never see a persons feet in your dreams.. Do this and it will scare off these entities.. Try your hardest to focus on the feet, seriously.. And as far as the paralysis, that's just because you're in a deep sleep, other wise known as REM.. I once had a dream a entity was drowning me and I awoke out of my sleep unable to breathe.. I ended up hyperventilating.. If you want to talk each me at amygirl9333@yahoo... Hope that helps..

scientifically, you brain creates a chemical that that paralyzes your motor fictions while you are in REM sleep, some people have a disorder where they become conscious while still in the REM state, it happens to me every once in a while when I am really tired. The visions you experience are from your own subconscious mind because your between unconsciousness and consciousness. What happens to me is that my room where I sleep will look the same but distorted, then I will hear something or someone coming but I can't move, what I end up doing is moaning until the sound that I am making wakes me all the way up. Your right it is exhausting.

There is a possible scientific answer to this. When we are in REM sleep, our muscles are generally paralyzed. Sometimes, for some people, when you first wake up the paralysis continues for a few seconds. This can lead to feelings of terror and helplessness, and has been linked to certain halucinations.
Please consider asking your doctor about a sleep study- an entirely painless medical test, often done in comfortable, home-like settings. There are things that can be done to help with this if it is linked to a sleep disorder.
Do some research on "sleep paralysis", a good start is sleepreviewmag.com
Good Luck- getting decent sleep is one of the best things we can do for ourselves.

I had nightmares nightly for years. I screamed every night. My counselor suggested this. Before going to sleep I would say to my self...."I don't need to have these dreams, I have the power to get rid of them, I don't need to be afraid because I can deal with any danger that somes my way."
I did this and the first night the nightmares were gone. If they reoccur I just do some self talk again at bedtime.
Give it a try. The mind is more powerful than we can imagine

It's possible you could have demons, or a ghost in your house. The best thing to do is sleep with a bible near by, pray to god for help. I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, and I found saying "Jehovah" if you can speak, or just thinking it helps sometimes possibly to scare them away. But once i woke up and it felt like something was on top of me and holding my arms down... imagination possibly, or succubus.

Yes, there are explanations. Most likely, you are having anxiety over something, maybe unconsciously. There are sleep specialists you could see. You may just want to see a Psychologist though first to see if you do have anxiety or something similar.
