I found it on my family land, close to the KY river and need to get some money fast for my kids birthday.

I guess that as with most things, you would need to take into consideration the supply and demand factor. If you can find someone that really wants it, the higher price you will get.
I would go to a pawn shop in the area if it something you need to do right away. Bottomline is that you will get far more if you take your time and try to authenticate it and then locate a collector that is willing to pay a good price. Maybe search some civil war reinactors groups around that area.

Definitely give it to your kid if he is old enough to take care of it, meaning it's not a toy to play with and destroy.
You say you want money fast, that's a good way for someone to give you a low price for it,seeing that you are desperate.
Some of those buckles are extremely valuable. You need an honest expert to appraise it for you, and then get a second and third opinion.
You can even contact a local museum or university for help in determining the significance of it. They may want it for their collection and give you a fair price.

Ebay-There are a lot of collectors of all sorts of things on there, but if it is truly authentic you might want to consider holding on to it and having it appraised because it could be worth a lot. Ever watch Antique Roadshow???
