I am a very accepting person, but it has come to my attention from answering people's questions that this forum is home to some of the most arrogant people I have ever seen. I don't think I will change anyone's mind and don't intend to, but please read.

Your religious beliefs aside do you truly believe a just and loving god would send good people to hell because they chose the wrong religion. If you want true enlightenment take a trip to a Buddhist temple. I can almost guarantee if you are a Christian and reading this almost all Buddhist live a better life than you, and that is from an unbiased spectator.

Please do not say anything about faith in this thread, because you do know that there are other religions out there. Religions who have the same close-minded views as you have. I will continue to be nice to all of the Christians I meet, because that is just the way I am, I wish I could say that about most Christians.

I love you all.

I am sorry, some of you seemed to have missed the point where I said this as a unbiased spectator, I am not a practicing buddhist.

This thread shows how much anger people really have in their hearts. This was not a thread of anger or accusation. I have read The bible in full and that is why I am not a practicing Christian.

I do wish you all the best.

I asked for noith references because that is what seems to breed hate from non believers. Both my parents were drug addicts and I suffered from abuse all throughout my childhod. Guess what, I still have no hate in my heart. I've never done drugs or alcohol, I'm a virgin(I'm 20).

A just god would judge people on their quality of life instead if they chose the right religion.

First allow me to say that I am a Christian Pastor.
Also that I agree that we, as Christians have a lot of work to do when it comes to living up to the expectations of our own religion.
One of the first things that I learned was sometimes the best thing to do is agree to disagree.
May God Bless.

I don't think you realize how contradictive your statements are. First you accuse Christians of living a less better life than Buddhists and then you call yourself unbiased. My question is, How do you know which life is better if you've never tried either of them (as you've stated that you're unbiased, tells me you don't have a religion). And then you tells us not to talk about Faith which is the whole basis of our religion, but I wonder if you even know what faith is. And then to say that you will be "nice" to all the Christians you meet and in the same sentence, accuse Christians of not being nice. Isn't that a little hypocrytical? That wasn't very "nice" of you to say. I think before you start knocking people's religion, you should take the time to investigate. Like you said, you're just a "spectator" and therefore you have no clue as to what you are talking about. And to say that Christians are close-minded....hmmm.......

I think you may be doing what you say Christians do. You say Christians are arrogant. That seems like passing judment also because of what you believe to be true about some Christians. I agree their are some people who profess to be Christians that don't appear to bear the fruit of Christanity, but there are also some of the most caring people in the world also that are Christians. It is our belief according to our teaching that even the holiest person is filthy rags when it's compared to the holiness of our creator. It can't tolerate any sin that there is not a sacrifice for. That is why Jesus had to become the perfect sacrifice so that the Father sees his righteous not ours when he looks at us. We're not perfect as Christians just saved not by our power but by his blood. That's what makes us so different. Christians do care about other people we believe haven't learned the truth of the Christian God. That is why we do so much evangalizing all over the world. If you really open you're heart to Jesus you will see the Bible is the truth and according to it there is no other name to be saved except the name of Jesus. If you really think about it the plan of salvation makes perfect sense because as humans we all fall short of the glory of God that includes Christans, Moslems, Buddists and everyone else. I you will investigate all religions and see which one is the truth.

That was real nice. I am no longer a practicing Christian, I am an atheist. But, I was a practicing Christian for over thirty years.

And, most Christians are taught that everyone is evil and wicked and the only possibility of overcoming that wickedness is through the blood of Jesus.

The point is that it is totally irrelevant how good a person may be, according to most Christians, the only way to be truly good is by being "saved." While ignoring the fact that Christians are just as bad as anyone else, if not more-so.

Nice thought, but if you seriously think a die hard Christian would ever be persuaded by a logical argument or good behavior, you are mistaken.

Die hard (fundie) Christians do not view you as a decent person, they view you as Satan's little helper and a demon, even the "anti-Christ." Keep being nice to them, but, the courtesy will not be returned.

Peace.

Well, you would have an argument if Christianity were really a religion. That's the problem with trying to compare Christianity to say, Buddhism. Buddhism is a religion. Christianity is not. Jesus Christ didn't come to earth to start a religion. If He wanted to start a religion, He would have thrown the Scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees out of the temple, and started from scratch. But He didn't. God hates religion and all of its trappings.

Instead, Jesus selected twelve men to be His closest friends. He developed a relationship with them, and then encouraged them to do the same thing.

Oh, yes, there are other religions out there, but none of them...none...encourage a relationship with the diety being worshipped. Only Christianity does. Other religions maintain that there are several ways to get to God. Jesus said that there is only one way, and that is through Him.

The reason people go to hell is because they reject God by rejecting Jesus Christ. God does not intend for anyone to go to hell. That's why He created a way to get into heaven. You must remember that since God is righteous and holy, sin cannot enter into His presence. And since sin cannot enter His presence you and I cannot enter into His presence either... because we have sinned.

I've pointed out in other answers that God did not create hell for man. He created hell for the Devil and his angels. They, too, sinned against God, and God created a place to punish them for all eternity.

So, do you you reject God and face eternal separation (hell) from Him? Or do you accept His FREE offer of grace? Which would you rather have: a religion or a relationship?

I chose the relationship.

It is not up to any man to say who is or is not going to Heaven and any one who does may find his own soul in jeapardy - I am a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ who died for my sins so that I may have the hope of an eternity in Heaven someday - part of the bargain is that I teach others about Him using the Bible as the text book - what a person chooses to belief is what that person will be judged from - not from what I say or do - but from what they choose - my job is only to teach the Word and offer the same hope within me to others - judgement comes from the Lord God Almighty - not from any man - so I would say to all Read and Study the Bible, read it's history and how it came to be, compare it to other beliefs and practices, pray over it - ask God to enlighten you as to what is the right way - and follow your heart - God Bless you -

Under the assumption that there is a heaven and hell, what are your criteria? Does Hitler go to hell. Who in your view would go to hell?

Unless you can answer that question, don't criticize the answer Christianity gives you.

Also, if the religious beliefs people hold matter so little, why are you even on this section of yahoo answers. You mention the arrogance of others and then pat yourself on the back by saying "I love you all". Give me a break.

Come down from your buddhist temple and the throne you have placed yourself on.

How can one answer you without saying something about faith, especially if faith is an essential aspect of understanding, choices, judgements, decisions and right and wrong?

Also, you have read the Bible, what is meant by "In the beginning God?" Not in the beginning a big bang, or chemical reactions. In the beginning God.... sums it up regardless. It is His creation, no matter how arrogant I may be, it will not change that.

God he sent his son to die for you on the cross so that you could have eternal life. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. And who is the Father except God? There it is in a nut shell my friend, you can believe it or not. The word also says that someday every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that "Jesus Christ is Lord" yep, even the Buddist. No one goes to hell for chosing the wrong religion, they go to hell for choosing the wrong God. Because the word says that For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man....there you have it my friend...... I love you back!

First of all, there are no "good people".
Every human has either lied, stolen, hated, looked with lust, etc.
These are God's laws and we all broke them.
It doesn't matter how "good" we are, the law must be satisfied.
A guy found that murdered a person 40 years ago must still satisfy the law of that murder regardless of how "good" he's been since.
There's nothing we can DO to go to heaven, that is given to us by grace alone so that God gets ALL the recognition for it so that no one can boast of "good works" that got them there.
This very thing separates Christianity from every other "religion" on earth. All other "religions" are based on your "good works" to get to heaven. If that's true, God isn't glorified.

The Holy Bible says that the name of Jesus Christ is the only name that we can call on and be saved and be assured a life in Heaven with Him and escape Hell. Now, would you rather accept Christ as your personal savior and be wrong or would you rather chance it and not accept Him and be wrong? I am very sorry that your opinion of Christians has gotten tainted. We may not live a life of fleshly desires and live a life of doing whatever we want when we want that, but I know that there is no joy and peace that I have found like the one I have known since I asked Jesus into my life and I wouldn't trade knowing Him for any amount of money or fleshly desire. But that is my life. You have the right to do as you wish with your's. Jesus has never pushed Himself on anyone to accept Him and He never will. It is Christians who do not act as true Christians that give us a bad name. But I promise you that Jesus will always desire for you to be with Him. I love you as well and I promise that Jesus loves you too with all His heart.
