The Vatican has no direct authority in the United States. That is up to the local Bishop.
Any priests who commit any crimes are subject to the law and the punishment of the law. No one, not the Chuch, can hide them.
The fact is there is less sexual abuse of children by priests than by their natural fathers. The majority of sexual abuse of children is committed by middle-aged married men and that is according to the FBI statistics.

Because if they did, they would have no leadership.
Catholics are known for recruiting homosexuals to the priesthood ever since Constantine invented the Catholic church.
That is not to imply that all homosexuals are pedophiles, but the majority of Catholic priests are homosexuals, according to what I've heard and seen.

if a murderer were to walk into a church and confesses, they wouldn't call the police. same with the peodophile priests, because the church believes that forgiveness solves everything.
