You may have the option to do a full reinstall or to retain your files.

I wouldn't recommend choosing the option to retain your files because it doesn't always work.

I would backup all of the files on your harddrive that you would like to keep (maybe onto a CD-ROM, memory key, or external hard drive) and do a full reinstall.

If you are going to go through the trouble of reinstalling though you may just want to upgrade your operating system to Windows XP.

As someone else said, you will have the option to repair it. But I do not reccomend doing so. Backup your files to removable storage and then reformat and reinstall the operating system. I would install Windows XP if your computer is robust enough.

in the event that they did an entire reformat, your screwed. in the event that they did a "speedy" reformat then theres wish that the information living house windows living house windows hasnt written over may well be recovered. this might require a undeniable software which you would be able to boot to and itll locate/replica deleted documents. Searcg google for "bootable report restoration" or some thing like that. It might desire to be some thing that boots from a floppy, CD, or different media. Even then, theres no guaruntees. There are additionally restoration centers you are able to hire and that they're going to look at it for you.

you should have the option to either install the system and retain your files, or do a complete reformat wiping your drive completely.

either way it's best to save as many of your files as possible either to a removable storage or to another pc
