How do I get rid of Chuggers?

I gt stopped by every f**king chugger in the street. Anyone got any useful tactics? Is it the "play with the iPod method"? Or the "I'm on a busy phone call scowl". I feel guilty telling 'em to eff off, they may be damn hippies but they're humans too

p.s. to anyone who doesn't know what chuggers are, look it up. Don't write stupid dumb-*** answers.

Chugger is a new "buzzword".

It once referred to someone who would drink an entire serving (usually beer) without stopping.

Now it refers to a professional fundraiser who approaches people on the street to ask for money on behalf of a charity.

If you don't want to donate to their cause, the best thing to do is just politely say, "No", "I'm not interested", "No thanks", or "Not today"

You can just keep walking and shake your head no, if you prefer.
You don't have to offer any explanation.

Or you can smile and explain that you don't carry cash.

If you simply scowl while using your phone or iPod, you leave the opportunity open, which can encourage them to be persistant. If your answer is no, you need to at least make eye contact and nod "no", so your answer is clear.

You're absolutely right about them being "humans too"! Treating people with kindness and respect goes a long way.

Chuggers are only Charity Muggers. They constantly ask for money for some reason or another. Its a pain I know. But to answer your question, there is no easy way to deal with them. Just be honest with them. Tell them that you dont have money at the moment or something. Or cross the street or something. There is not absolutly best way to deal with them. We all have our own methods of dealing with them.

One day while my and my husband and I were walking he said watch this, every "chugger" that came up to us my husband would ask them for spare change before they could get a word out of there mouth . the look on their face was priceless.

You don't have to be rude, or ignore them, or even act like you're too busy. All you have to do when they come up is say "No Thank You". If they don't leave after then, then tell them off. But be nice at first. Most of them will walk away and move on to someone else. They're not going to waste their time on someone who says no, trying to get them to change their mind. They're going to move on to someone who's quicker to pull out their wallet.

wipe ya bum properly! ohhh charity muggers, never heard of chuggers before sorry, thought it was something else. um, well i just usually run away screaming shouting, no! u cant do that to me! they never approach u again and they get kinda embarrassed when everyone looks at them.

Just say you have enough trouble paying your rent to give them anything, or that you already give to that charity.

Alternatively, put your head down and march past them like you're late for an important meeting and nothing is going to get in your way. Just ignore anything they say, or just say "sorry" and continue marching.
