To me, the meaning of life is to be happy and to do the right thing. I don't think that anybody should read something about how to live their own lives. Live your life the best way that you can and that's the only way that you can do it. My father died three days ago and now, I want to live my life to the fullest so it doesn't seem like I wasted it.

I could never top this excellent answer that I received for a similar question (from YahooGuru4u), so I quote it here verbatim. Of course, I ruled out the answer "42."

"Darn you. You sucked me in with your question, then I get here and I see 42 is already taken. Now we really have to go on a trip and I'm without a towel. Well ok, let me see what I can come up with, shooting from the hip as it were. My best guess is that the meaning of life, the universe and everything is "MORE". The quest for more seems to be at the center of all living creatures. All organizations be they organic or manmade seem to be trying to get "more". The universe itself is expanding, so I am told. As for "everything" anything that should happen to get created instantly becomes part of everything, so even everything seems to crave more. Yes I think I'll stick with the answer "MORE". What? Wait, just a minute, my wife is yelling something from the kitchen...... (long pause).....Hello I'm back again. My wife says the answer is "LESS" She says life is always moving toward death which by it's very nature is less life. The universe is made up of a limited quantity of everything and it is being used up also, so you have less now than in the past, and as for "everything" Well since everything gets used, you must have less of everything now than there was in the beginning. So my wife and I will agree to disagree and say that the answer is:
More or Less, or possibly More and Less. I guess that's pretty much the same as 42 because 4 is more and 2 is less. I'm getting a pain just behind my left eye from all of this thinking. What!? Just a minute, my wife is yelling again!........ I'm back. She said I'd better get off this Yahoo Answers thing and come to the table if I want any dinner. I told her that I'll never have to come back to Yahoo Answers again because I just pretty much summed up life, the universe and everything. I'd better hurry if I want more to eat and less yelling. So long and thanks for all the fishes."

Happy Answering,
~Tia~

The meaning of life is to learn from and develop others around you, whether educationally spiritually or physically. It also means taking care of the environment in which we live. By creating new ideas and developing new ways of thinking, we will enhance our future generations quality of life. The world has so many human needs and only we (humans) can fix our problems. We all have a valiant roll to play in society. If we all as individuals decided to help at least one person every day of our life, the world would be a better and more peaceful place to live.

The meaning of life is the meaning you give it. If you ascribe to any of the world's religions, they provide the meaning of life. There are psychological theories that add something to this question. One is the theory of self-actualization developed by Abraham Maslow. It holds that the highest goal opne can strive toward and some few achieve is 'self-actualization.' Certain people are given as examples - such as Albert Schweitzer - who dedicated his life to helping cure the sick in Africa. There are others. The idea is to become all you can be and identify with mankind.

It is a short journey in which through our flesh, brains and spirit we learn, experience, work, and hopefully work towards a spiritual connection so that we finish our work on earth and we can continue in the real life. An everlasting life. If we acted right, and learned all the lessons that God wants us to learn so that we can go to HIM.

In other words, life is a journey we all must go through and make certains decisions from our experiences to get to a different destination and away from physical life. SPIRITUAL LIFE waits for us eternally after life on earth. A life with our true Creator and Father.

To truly know yourself as if through the eyes of another. To gather as much information as possible to share with the collective conscience (spirit/soul) and allow yourself to evolve into a higher state of being, both mentally and spiritually. To realize that, at the sub atomic level, it's all a vacuum and we are literally one with each other and one with all of existence. To understand that what you say, think and do affect yourself, the people, events and the world around you, you are not separate from it. Then when you die, your conscience lives on in the spirit/soul/collective conscience of all things everywhere. Your mere existence is the ultimate contribution.

I believe that the meaning of life is to grow the strength of my inner spirit. I believe that my body is temporary but my spirit is a tiny piece of a greater spirit that we all share. It is the only permanent thing about us. My only purpose in life is to learn, grow, and internalize it so that my spirit can glow brighter in it's next incarnation.

Just my purpose, it could be different for you. Helen Keller was here to teach us gratitude and inner strength. That was a bright spirit!!
