It depends how much you eat and what else you're eating. It's all about the calories and exercise.

The only way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories per day than you expend. Fruit may help in that it may make you feel more full than you would if you ate something else, but fruit contains high amounts of sugar that translate into high calories.
It's best to eat a healthy balance of whole grains, whole foods (fruits and vegetables) and ample protein (either from meat or vegetarian sources). AND, you must exercise.

You need protein. Vegetarians just don't get it. Man is meant to eat meat. Man has eaten meat since the beginning of time. Man is a hunter. Man is a carnivore. You will be a lot healthier if you eat meat along with other things, such as vegetables, fruit, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, nuts, milk, fish, chicken, eggs, etc. For dieting to lose 30 pounds I recommend eating only fish and vegetables. Only drink water. Fruit is not good to eat when dieting.

Not if you eat a piece of cake beforehand...
Fruits and vegetables (raw) are a good way to get the NUTRITION you need, not necessarily lose weight. However, fruits are mostly water, so eating the right amount would suggest you would indeed lose weight.

No, fruit has sugar. It raises the blood sugar level and when it goes down, you feel hungry again. Exercise every day, even if it's just a walk. Go on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Eat fish, eggs, chicken, occasional lean beef or pork, low fat cottage cheese. Stay away from regular cheese, no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, beans (except green beans). Only one piece of fruit a day and no fruit juice (it's sugar water, my dr says). Cut down on carrots and tomatoes (included ketchup). Use mustard instead of mayonnaise in recipes. Eat lots of salads, green vegetables. Salads only have one tablespoon of dressing for the whole salad. No ice cream, or other desserts.

You need to have a balance diet. Fruit has a lot of sugar which can eventually turn into fat. Actually, the daily fruit servings has been reduce for the same reason. It is better to exercise and change your eating habits.

It will if you make sure that you count it as a snack or a meal. An apple is good, bananas are also good on diets, but the best to have is a grapefruit because there's something in it that eats the fat you digest.
Also celery you burn more calories chewing it than it has.

It is good for you, but like anything else in moderation. Fruit conatains a lot of water and sugars. If you eat a lot of it you may retain more water than normal.

Not necessarily. One to two servings is probably all you need, because fruit tends to have natural sugars in it. You also don't want to eat fruit too late in the day, either.
