Approach the parents and confront them. The child needs to see others reacting to let her know that it isn't normal and it is wrong. If the situation is serious, call the police without drawing attention to yourself - if the family tries to leave, then stall them somehow (start a conversation, ask them for directions, whatever).

Completely has to do with the level of 'abuse' taking place---wiith today's variant views of what constitutes abuse--what you're speaking of here could range wildly as to circumstance---if it was noticably serious / pyshical abuse there would be no question that I would do what I had to as a 'hands on' necessity--if it were somewhat less immediate in nature--authorities might be notified to intervene--if lighter in nature yet--i.e. some type of hard verbal thing--I probablly would simply feel powerless for this is something that can not be proven to authorities---the parent has the benefit of the doubt in such situations and there is not alot a person can do but to pray that someone will intervene with the authority to do so

Call the authories. Most abusers won't abuse in public. By the time they are comfortable enough to do that, the abuse has be come so extreme, they don't know right from wrong any more. That child is in danger. No Joke.

Call the police and Child Protective Services and I would confront the parents and try to advocate for the child's needs.

depends on the abuse.. if a parent is beating the child.. go to the child's aid .. then call the police .. also if you can get a tag # so the police can track down the people

i would get the license plate number if possible, before they got away. write down all the details of what occured. summon police. how badly the abuse was..would determine whether or not i would personally intervene. either verbally or physically,at that time. i would make sure police followed up with children services...

I would look around for someone bigger than the abuser and ask them to assist me so that I could walk up and confront the parent (and hopefully) stop the abuse.

Depends on what you mean by "abused". People think a spanking is abuse even if the child deserves it.

If they're hurting them for no reason then stop them and contact the police.

If she was being disrespectful in the least bit, ask the parents if they need a break. *cracks knuckles*

I would probably be pretty stunned, but I would make sure it was actually abuse before I called the cops. If he smacks her, oh yes, the cops would be on their way soon. If he was tugging on her wrist a little too violently, I wouldn't be so hasty. Y'know?
