The information depends of your particular state's websites. After Megan's Law, most states have public information databases available that pinpoint where sex offenders live and what they were convicted of. For Maryland it is http://www.dpscs.state.md.us/onlineservs/sor/ but you should do a Yahoo search with the words "sex offender registry" followed by your state. Follow the links from there.
Remember, this information is only about convicted and registered sex offenders. There may be sex offenders living in your area that have not been caught yet so always be aware of your surroundings.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

Most states now have online search engines, where you can look up your zip code, and it will tell you where they are. Just go to a search engine and type in Sex offenders, and your state, and
that should help you find what you are looking for. Good luck.

Go to (your city & state) along with sex offenders. They will pop up with not only a list but pictures too. If this doesn't work call your Chamber of Commerce in your city & ask them. If you have children, you need this information.

While you are looking for that information. Please remember the registry is giving you a false sense of security. Your child has a 90 to 95% chance of being molested by a relative, another child, close friend, teacher, coach, scout leader, etc. They have a 3.5% chance of being molested by a rehabilitated former sex offender.

Which odds do you like the best?
