I always have a problem talking with groups of people and paying attention. 1 or 2 people and i am like everyone else, but anymore than 3 and i just cant keep up. I have been tested for ADD and it came back negative. What could be wrong? (and im not shy, i can greet and talk with new people easily)

It sounds like you may have an anxiety disorder or panic attacks. But to really get to the bottom of what is wrong you need to make an appointment with your family doctor. He or she may recommend that you be seen by a psychiatrist or psychologist or some other type of counselor. Then explain to them what you are feeling at that moment when you are around other people. Describe to him or her your symptoms such as for example: I feel overwhelmed or nervouse or that I am feeling caged in etc.

Between therapy in the talk form and medications, and lots of hard work on your part, you can go thru life as effectively as possible.

Good luck to you and I hope I was of some help to you!

Hmm...well, first of all, I'm leary of your assessment that there must be something "wrong" with you. But that said, I think I'd need to know more about what happens when you're in those situations. Do you feel anxious? Overwhelmed? It could be that large groups trigger anxiety for you -- or possibly that you work too hard cognitively in such situations. Like you're trying to process too much social information at once, and might do better if you just focus on what's really important. Also, if you're something of an introvert, then such situations can feel overwhelming. But like I said, I'd really have to know more to give you better advice.

I am the same way- I just don't try. I pick a couple of people to follow, and converse with them, then change out after a few minutes. I assume you mean in a party or class atmosphere. (I actually even have problems when two people are talking to me at once.)
