because the question is

ARE OUR CHILDREN LEARNING?

2006-06-13 10:45:05 · answer #1 · answered by texasgirl5454312 6 · 0 0

Our children are hopefully not learning from people who cannot even phrase a question properly.

Our children are learning but they will learn at their own pace. The problem is that they are not learning practical matters like personal finances and being a good citizen. They are being pushed by parents and society to " get all they can" at the expense of others. this country needs to go back and teach good foundational skills first, like how to say thank you or wait their turn in line. Today's kids have the attitude that lets not wait for anything, lets get it now and worry about the consequences later. thank God I was born when I was, I feel sorry for this country in the next few decades if things continue as they are!

Whose children is our children? I don't know enough about all the children that "our" has, in order to answer this. This question is rarely asked because it's not the best question. A better question would be, are your children learning? or, do children learn enough in the majority of schools? I got nothing more to say about this question. Please ask more specific, detailed questions.

YES THEY ARE learning , They learn faster than us the adults.
They know more about the computer world than we do. Many excel in highschools, some get PhD from Harvard whether or not they come from a wealthy family. Kids are smart, smarter than the adults because they are less judgemental towards learning.
Kids are not learning what we learned years ago. Kids are shaping the next generation and if it is a mell pot of dyslexic and ADD then so be dat. You will be long gone then anyway. It is their choices to learn and those dat don't will pay dearly for it.

I do not think children these days are learning. As a Child Development major, I think our education system is literally for the dogs. I do not know how they hire the teachers in this state but, most are not educated even though apparently they say they are. In addtion, the USA does not have enough federal funding to provide a greater education for our children.
As a result, most our children are behind academically which is very unfortuate.

No. The public school system has been reduced to a place to keep kids busy while both parents work three jobs each. Children who are home schooled by competent parents consistently out perform public school children. Charter schools seem to be a good middle ground between the bottom of the barrel public education and well taught home schooled children.

the question should be "are our children learning" and if you, as a parent, did not learn vocabulary, how can you expect your child to? I have 3 children, and only one of them attends school, and yes, he is learning. For a brief period of time, I took him out of public schools, and home schooled him. All the books that I had that were for his level of education were way to easy for him, so we went to the next level. Those were still to easy. We went to the next level and I taught from that. Our children learn when they want to learn, and what they are taught, only if they are taught to listen and learn. It has to start from home. If you do not feel your child is receiving the proper educational treatment at school, then find another school, or home-school. They will not learn if they do not like their teacher, or the school they attend.

A childs success in school is directly related to the parent or parents involvement. But after reading how both the question was asked, and one of the responses, I have my doubts as to how many actually DO get involved. If you haven't grasped spelling and grammar by the 6th grade, then it's too late.

Sure it is. But it sounds more like: Are our children learning? But I doubt most parents like what they're learning.
