I'm an atheist too... here's a quote from Madalyn Murray-O'Hair (don't know who she is) that I thought expressed a very good viewpoint...
"...An Atheist loves himself and his fellow man instead of god.
An Atheist knows that heaven is something for which we should work now
--here on earth-- for all men together to enjoy.
An Atheist thinks that he can get no help through prayer
but that he must find in himself the inner conviction and strength to meet life,
to grapple with it, to subdue it and enjoy it.
An Atheist thinks that only in a knowledge of himself
and a knowledge of his fellow man can he find the understanding
that will help to a life of fulfillment.
Therefore, he seeks to know himself and his fellow man rather than to know a god.
An Atheist knows that a hospital should be built instead of a church.
An Atheist knows that a deed must be done instead of a prayer said.
An Atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death.
He wants disease conquered, poverty vanquished, war eliminated.
He wants man to understand and love man.
He wants an ethical way of life.
He knows that we cannot rely on a god nor channel action into prayer
nor hope for an end of troubles in a hereafter.
He knows that we are our brothers' keepers and keepers of our own lives;
that we are responsible persons, that the job is here and the time is now."

I Am That I Am The One True Living God. Through the Son who is called The Rock, The Word, the stumbling block for the Intellectually, the foolishness for the humanist. The Cornerstone to the Church, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Master and Savior Jesus Christ the only choice for Eternal Life is Faith in Him.
The reason is what is more beautiful than The Creator becoming as His Greatest Creation in the flesh living a perfect life being put to death by the people of the world to save them all even those who hate HIM. To teach Ultimate Love, Self sacrifice, Ultimate Faith. Arose on the 3rd day to witness to the first believers to Validate Eternal Life Promise as a Gift to You. So Easy So Simple everyone can Believe. But so Foolish and ingenious.
nearly impossible for those who are not meek, broken, poor, needy, lost to achieve.
How beautiful is that indescribable!
God really loves his greatest creation Us
Jesus really does too. He is our direct connection to God Almighty. He is our Mercy Seat.

2) Perhaps you were simply born to an Atheist family in which case #1 doesn't necessarily apply to you
3) You most likely vote Democrat or at least share some views.
4) You're most likely not in any possition of power.
5) You're a sinner who was been threatened with eternal damnation an many accounts.
6) You're damn good in my book.

Tis a system of belief in itself ....and part of ALL others ...just a focus on a pin point of the Whole !!
Their is no argument truly but from thous whom fear or are ignorant ...the self righteous .....and other reasons of yuck !!!! To judge life's works unfinished is a very dangerous thing !!!! For ALL systems are but being focused on a tiny tiny point of the whole ...and NONE are themselves to be warship .....sadly as the Masses Do .......the systems are but tools to be used to seek a ever wider view ...and whatever one chooses to do so is a good thing !!! Yet most are mindless and used by their tools and great " I AM's " ........
So what comes to mind ? GREAT ..seek the Depths always deeper and know that ....once one " knows " something growth in that direction stops ...... so keep all doors open and keep Free !!!!

Love... God is Love... a love beyond anything a human is possible of creating or imagining... I know He loves you regardless of your feelings toward Him... ignore any negative answers you may receive... keep searching... you obviously have some yearning in you to know Him or you wouldn't have asked this question... follow your heart, not your mind... study, check it out... what do you have to loose if you already have no long distance to look forward to? There has to be something more than a dying future... God is our Father... life is all about finding and understanding His love so we can be better people to others, the Earth, ourselves, and most importantly to Him... He gives us our rules because He is the only one who truly knows what's best for us... just like as parents we tell our children what not to do (i.e. don't touch the stove) because we love them and we know what's best for them even when they don't... a lot of times children think they know better than their parents do, but in a loving relationship they usually don't... that' s how we are with God... He won't push Himself on you because that's not what true love does... He will just be there waiting for you... If He were to jump out and say hey I told you so, believe would not exist... God is about faith and hope, and I hope that you find that...
God Bless... : )

wow the muslim who answered above me went WAY overboard! he could have just summed it up in his own words and referenced to the Quran.
Anyway thinking about you being an atheist makes me wonder why you chose to be one? I, as a Christian believe God exists without a doubt. It is impossible for this world, universe, and everything in it to exist without Him.
I guess what is important is to know what was the turning point where you thought that God doesn't exist. If you let me I can try to show you that He does exist.

I actually know (not just know "of") atheists that have been in foxholes. Funny how people just know so much about the inner workings of others.
Well, actually that's what came to mind when I read what's above me.
What came to mind when I read your question was "I wonder who answered this one... should be entertaining..."
Then, when I considered the actual question -"She doesn't believe in any deity..." and that's it, because that's all it really means.

I am sure that you can not prove that you have a great great great grandfather empirically (if you can, go to his great great great grandfather until you can not prove it). so..... believe you do not have one..lol.
Atheists are like a person who goes to the Library, has not checked out all the corners of the library and claims that such and such book does not exist in the Library, when in fact the person is ignorant of its existence, but because he or she can not find it, makes a declaration without looking at all the possible evidence that will give success to a more rational finder of that book.
Jargon, dogma.......... catma.. ha ha ha. BE good and you will find God one day.. I sincerely hope.

You might have good sense, an ability to intepret evidence correctly, and examine its sources for credibility.
Probably a good grasp of logic, reasoning & a wide range of world knowledge from science to religion, philosophies and the dangers of cults and utilising false knowledge.
You most likely value hard work and don't ever pretend your transcretions can be magically absolved just because you really really want them to be.
But above all a normal person. (probably)
