As far as I know you can I currently go to school here in Indiana and your grant is based on your earnings from the previous year here. Your grant will go straight to your school any way atleast I know it does with the federal pell grant and the school will take their money first and within a couple of weeks of the disbursement they will send you what is left. You can apply for all types of grants no matter what your income is but unemployment is only temporary they will not let you draw on it forever.

Check with your local Job and Family Service Agency first, but it's likely possible to collect unemployment benefits while attending classes only if you were attending classes BEFORE you were laid off from your job. Your grant dollars are probably based on your previous year's income, so your current income will not affect your grant if it's a govt. grant. However, if it's another kind of grant there could be other rules that apply.

Yes. They are two completely separate issues. You can receive government grants for schooling based on several different reasons. You draw unemployment based on your application due to termination of employment by one's employer.

Sounds like conflicting circumstances. Probably illegal. Check the Unemployment Insurance Office or website.

the short answer is NO... though you may qualify if you are a part-time student (less than 12 credits). Full time students are never eligible for unemployment, though if you are a female with children you might be able to get WIC.

I did this in Ohio. The thing that allowed it was that I was working and going to school during my employment. Plus the job market was bad then.My caseworker determined that my best chance of getting a job was with a degree.
