The Children of Israel did not accept Jesus. Jesus was first and foremost sent for them (Israel). Naturally God's plan was for everyone, even the Gentile (non-Jew). Why should Christians be any different? I know it should not be but it happens. It seems most mainstream Christian churches are going this direction. I would attribute this to no real relationship to Jesus and most importantly the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit you have to directional sign pointing you toward Jesus.
"There Is Nothing New Under The Sun
(Ecclesiastes 1:9-14 NIV) What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. {10} Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. {11} There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow. {12} I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. {13} I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men! {14} I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind."

If you are trying to say that people are offended by the name "Jesus the son of God" I think it's because some Christians believe that Jesus IS God (in a way). If you are saying they are offended by the name "Jesus", than I have no idea.

If the name of Jesus is offensive to anyone then they are not a Christian. The problem is that many people call themselves a "Christian" when they're not. They think that because they live in a "Christian" country they are automatically Christians.
I hear many people profess to being Chrisitian and then turn around and profane the name of our Lord, Christ Jesus. These people do not truly understand the concept of Christianity,

Because the devil knows that....
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
(Acts 4:10-12)
Jesus is the name unto salvation and if a "Christian" takes offense to that name he isn't a Christian.

are you talking about people who prefer Jesus not be in politics or forced upon children at school? I think it is because peeps know that everyone interprets biblical stuff differently and they do not want anyone telling them how to practice or forcing anyone on them, christian or not. they would rather Jesus be a personal experience.

Some Christians may think His name is too holy to be called out, but I think that He has a name so we can refer to Him and praise Him.

It's not. But if it is, then they are not Christian.
Jesus Christ is a model to live every day by. He is the one who holds our hands and lifts us up so that we can stay true to G--'s laws and love G-- with all out heart. We love G-- and with the help of Jesus
