If your dog is suffering then it is no sin to take him or her to the vet to be put down painlessly. You will not go to hell. If you do it for no reason, or for fun, then you will certainly go to hell.

Is your vet named Satan?
If not, are you a Budhist?
If not, NO.
There are two ways to look at this:
1. It's his time. In which case you are interferring with God.
or 2. It's not his time. I which case, life is good, but; what kind of a life will he lead.
Think Barbaro. Some animals if injured will die if they can't get back to the way they are.
Also, your $1000 may not do the job. All surgeries are risky. All medicines have side effects. Forget the amount. This is not a sure thing.
If this were a human you wouldn't even have this choice.
The doctor will give the dog something for the pain and then something to stop the heart. In theory , he doesn't feel a thing.
If you are into reincanation, take your $1000 and go buy an expensive puppy and maybe it will be your dog reborn. You never know.
But, NO. Most religions do not send you to hell for putting your dog to sleep. You might. They won't.

Okay, first off, how old is the dog and what is the health problem? Will the vet allow you to pay off the bill, or do you have to pay up front? Ask they vet what he/she thinks ... can the dog recover or is it a life threatening problem?
No, you won't go to hell (if there is on), but you will feel bad.
I have spent about $4000 on my dog in the last couple years for different medical problems, and would spend another $4000 if it meant she would live a longer life.
As long as your dog is not in pain and suffering, try to find a way to have him/her treated by the vet, or maybe the vet can find a new owner that will take care of the cost. Good luck!

No, if it is suffering that bad, don't make it suffer any longer. That is easy to say, but everyone is different, I can understand. My mom had to have her dog put down and she cried so much. she had no choice, the dog was old and begin to suffer from seizures and the vet said that she would eventually have a seizure and not live through it. My mom didn't have the heart to watch her dog suffer any longer. She was a very good dog and will be missed by all of us. Now my mom has a Pug.
Good Luck and I wish you the best.
Hope I helped!
Sorry about your dog. Some people just don't have any idea how close a person can get to a dog. I consider my dogs family.

I had a small dog for several years and last fall she started limping. We took her to the vets, got 2nd, 3rd opinions etc. The vets all agreed she needed a surgery on both back legs and it would get worse very fast. The vets also said it was a crap shoot if spending the 800 bux would give her any quality of life. After alot of talking it over with husband and alot and I mean ALOT of crying, we ended up keeping her comfortable with medication and when she got to a point where she was unhappy, we had her put to sleep. I could not do it, so my husband stayed with her, and held her until it was over. We had her cremated and took her to my mother in laws farm where she always loved to run and play, there we set her free. If going through that alone was not hell on earth I dont know what is. We did the right thing for her and that was what counted. Lil Dog was a WONDERFUL dog and we miss her horribly, but I would rather remember her the way she was. When she got to the point she could not run and chase her "cousin" dogs, she got depressed and the vet assured it she would remain that way even if we had surgery done. Do what feels right in your heart and you'll do the right thing.

I was in a similar situation with my dog, he had cancer and it would cost over $1000 for the treatment. I asked the Vet how much time he would have after the treatment, and he was honest and told me that it might buy him about 8 months to a year.
So he was going to die, either within a month or within a year if I opted for the treatment. Also, the treatment and recovery would be difficult for him, and I know he wouldn't understand that it was in his best interest, and furthermore he would have to go through the same discomfort and pain again that he was in at the time in about a year. It seemed cruel to me to prolong his suffering just so I didn't have to face the decision to put a member of the family down.
I cried for about a week making the decision, it's not easy to play God. In the end I got a vet to come to our house to put him down so he would be in his own home near all the people that loved him. I couldn't take him to the vet to do it and have him anxious and scared at the vet, he deserved better.
Once he was put down by the vet at our home, we buried him in our backyard with all his favourite toys, etc.; many people in the neighbourhood attended his funeral.
It doesn't sound like you are doing it for selfish reasons unless the vet says that the treatment will result in a complete recovery; if that is the case I would borrow the money and pay it back over time to help your dog. Some people have no problem borrowing money for a car, stereo, etc. but won't spend the money to have our pets fixed; they are not disposable.
So to hell with you if your decision is simply a financial one, to heaven for you if your decision is an honest compassionate one.

No, You will not go to Hell. As a Vet Tech at an Animal Shelter I have to Euthanize dogs on a regular basis, people like to judge but they are usualy the ones who are breeding to make an easy dollar or not spaying/neutering their pets.
If your animal is suffering and you cant afford it the kindest thing to do is to put him down...God wont hold it against you.We like to think our animals are waiting in heaven on the other side for us ,but the Bible says they dont have souls. They are put here for Mans use.(sad)I can tell you from experience that euthaniza is very quick and painless.Your dog wont suffer...Good Luck

Is this a pet question or a spirituality question?
Spiritually - no. According to the Bible an animal does not have a soul.
As to whether or not you should spend the $ on the operation... only you can answer that question. It is a lot of money, but for many people their pets are not only companions, they are members of the family. How do you put a price tag on that?
The second thing to consider is will this operation improve their quality of life. If the operation is only to help stave off the inevitable and the animal will be in pain, then I say no don't do it.

You're not going to go to hell by putting down your dog. How old is your dog? consider that and how much it would cost to take care of his pain. If he's a young pup, I would say, save him. But if he's lived a good life and there's a possibility that he might die on the operating table, don't take the chance. Talk to your family, really think it through. I'm kinda going through the same thing right now.

If you kill it you'll go to hell but if you have it put to sleep by a vet for the reason of bad health or being in pain then you will not go to hell and your dog will be up there in heaven watching over you.

well if humanely euthanizing an animal means you will go to hell then I am certainly going cuz I have had to do that to a dog of mine that had a brain tumor and was suffering badly. And I sat with my stepdads dog while he was put down cus he was so old and had so many illnesses and was suffering badly. I believe honestly that the same service should be available to humans.
