Yes, to be sure. The more muscle mass you have, the more fat you'll burn when you exercise (and throughout the day even when you're not exercising, really).

In particular, your quads and your gluteus are the biggest muscles in your body. Building them up will help a lot!

Yes, the exercise will burn calories and the resistance will tighten up the muscles.

However, don't judge yourself by the "stars" you see in movies and magazines. Most guys want someone with a shape, not a bag of bones.

Any exercise is good when you're trying to get into shape, but cardio/aerobic is best for losing fat.

sure, but mix in some aerobic heart beating exercise to increase your heart rate and your metabolism.
