do you think it is correct for a man to hit a woman under any circumstances?

i need different opinions from a lot of different people so please post your answers and feel free to say what you have in mind.

Even in self-defense, he shoud only restrain her, not hit her.

I would say a Man should never hit a woman. But their may come a time where it may actually become necessary to take action against a woman. Say your life or somebody elses life was in immediate peril you would have to do something. I hope I am never in that position where my life depended of punching a woman. I really do not know if I would be able to do it. I think hitting a woman would be the total last option to take in a bad situation. I would rather try and verbally diffuse the situation. If that failed to work, I wwould probably just try to push the woman away. I probably should have said I ould never hit a "Lady". There is a big difference between a "lady", and a "woman" After all, there are some "women" that can inflict more pain, and do more damage than a man. So, I guess it would come down to the situation.

I don't think physical, mental or emotional abuse is acceptable under any circumstances. No matter how either person justifies the abuse, it is still abuse. If this is happening to you, and you feel like you somehow "deserve it," provoke it, or could stop it, you are mistaken. Abusers are always wrong. I would say if the actions, words or feelings are not something you would want said, done or felt by someone that you hold in regard (like a sister or best friend), then don't let it happen to you. We all are capable of love and hate, so pick love and get away from that abuser. If it is not you being abused, show or e-mail this to a friend. There are many local and national support groups and places for abused children, teens and women. Abuse is never right and that is what hitting is, no matter what justification is used.

Under any circumstances, certainly not! To me, this is a dominant thing and always has been. In my eyes, men believe that they can vent their anger in a physical way upon the weaker sex. Men usually aren't raised to express their emotions and when their anger builds up, they explode, unfortunately using their fists or objects, sometimes. This is how they get their point across. I see no reason why it would be acceptable- not even if the woman is absolutely delerious. There are other ways to handle certain situations.

Let it be known that women aren't the only victims in domestic violence. Men can suffer the same abuse. Imagine the humiliation a person could go through. This turns into a life- changing event. You must avoid it at all costs. I hope all is well.

Never, I have been witness to a situation where the woman was the aggressor and beating on the man- In this situation, it would be acceptable for him to restrain her or get away from the situation- hitting back only perpetuates the anger and violence- it is never an appropriate response.
I have seen more than enough domestic violence cases an the damage it does to men, women and children is heartbraeaking.
Neither I nor my husband see any instance where a man hitting a woman is correct.

If the woman hit the man first, he has the right to hit back- but should leave no marks at any time. This is the only time a man should even think of hitting a woman.

A man may only hit a woman in self defense and the same goes for a woman unless the man has invaded her personal space, but in that case she should do a lot more than just hit.

And visa versa. There is a character trait called self control. If it is not used and the woman accepts brutality into her life he feels he has a right to continue it with out repercussions. There is repercussions in many forms. And the end result may be his death.
But also please note that some women, out of revenge, will entice a man to hit her and then he is up on charges of assult.

No, there is never no excuse... Unless, he has to defend himself, but even then, a man is stronger than a woman, he can always hold her down, until help arrives...

No woman should ever take abuse from a man, the same goes for a man... It can happen both ways....

God made man to protect us, to love and cherish us... Not to beat us and be in control....
