As a Catholic, I would have to do something really horrible to turn completely away from God and be in the state of mortal sin.

Therefore I live with the belief that I will go to heaven. I believe this eliminates a lot of fear and uncertainty that some other people live with. I go through life pretty much on an even keel.

I'm not afraid of death. I'm afraid of pain and stuff but not dying.

My wife asked me what she should do if I wound up in a coma on life support with major brain damage. I said turn off the switch and send me to God.

With love in Christ.

When I first began to take religion seriously, I initially feared hell. After awhile, I stopped worshiping out of fear of hell and started worshiping out of love for God.

This, so I have read, is a common experience.

Now, I no longer fear hell in the sense that if I were to die now, I would go to hell - I fear it in the sense that evil keeps me on my Spirtiual toes.

Having said that, I don't know if I would go straight to Heaven if I were to die right now. In fact, I sincerely doubt I would.

As a Catholic, I believe in Purgatory. So that is where I believe I would end up for a while. Which is fine with me because all souls that go to Purgatory will eventually go to Heaven.

My personality and outlook on life, has changed tremendously since I started taking my faith seriously. I think because I realized the goal of this life is to earn our place in the next. This has brought me a lot of peace because this Spiritual outlook of life makes many daily concerns seem pedestrian, which they are compared to the ultimate reality of the afterlife.

I hope this answers your question.

Catholics believe you either go to hell (where you burn all the time), pergatory (weren't quite good enough to go to heaven, but people still alive can pray you to heaven), or you were a saint and go to heaven. This provides emotional and physical stress and it is also WRONG! I used to be catholic and let me tell you, you need to read a nontranslated bible. You will find that you either go with Jesus at the second coming righteous dead or righteous living) or that you stay on Earth for a while with Satan until God sends a fire to consume Satan and his followers (you die forever, you no longer exist).

Well, in my opinion most people only worry about good and bad after they have done bad things. When I was a kid I had memorize the 10 commitments and I have to say that people rarely obeys them. Remember 9-11, it brought many religions together and pushed others apart.
