Because their bible tells them that they are right and everyone else is wrong. Apparently they never bothered to think that everyone else's holy scriptures say the same thing and are backed by the same amount of evidence (none).

Edit: Arch Angle demonstrated my point beautifully. What arrogance.

"King of the Jews." We Christians are the real Jews. we are the Jewish religion in full blossom. So he really is the "king of the Jews." But the ones you call Jews hate him...

And Christians think they are better because they believe they have a great thing no one else has. And atheists think they are better because they think they're smarter than everyone else not believing in "fairy tales." seen any Muslims? They think their better.

Everyone thinks they are better, kid. Not just Christians. That's human nature for ya.

and Drew F. made a good point. I don't think I'm better, but only forgiven. I KNOW I'm not better. And I know of a lot of other humble Christians who know they are just humans, too. It's just that the arrogant loud mouth ones get the attention of the outsiders.

I don't think all christians do, or at least I have christian friends that don't.
Fundamentalist Christianity is as much a culture as a religion, and it's an extremely hostile and xenophobic culture. Feeling that they are superior allows them to dehumanize those who they consider their enemies and lets the fundamentalists believe that they have the right to hate and mistreat those that are different (but it's not mistreatment because they deserve it). Lots of the hate and bigotry advocated by christians in answers is the result of feeling superior to others, even thought they plainly aren't.
It's the same feeling shown by their god when he kills everyone in the world just because he's mad, or by fundamentalist parents when the mistreat their children for god. It's pretty ugly stuff, but then I don't have to tell the nonchristians that: most of us have been on the receiving end of it.

To love thy neighbour. This covers it all. Let us help each other and show the love that God is speaking of. We must learn to live in the spirit and not in the flesh. Living in the flesh certainly will have grave consequences for all. The love of God is sufficient for all who seeks it. Look to the heavens for that love and not in this world. May each of you have a great day and keep on keeping on. God Bless

Galations 5:14-26
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

They don't think that. God clearly says they are His children and they have benefits as a result of that. First, they have an inheritance, access to his throne ( he will hear and respond to their request) they have charge over the angels and the Holy Spirit for protection and guidance.
What you see and hear from them is pure joy and true peace that someone has their back. Its like facing bully knowing your Father is right there and your Big Bother jesus is standing inthe gap interceeding for you . That would make anyone stand tall.

Christians should not have pride, but an eternal light, Jesus Christ fullfilled the prophecy, and died for our sins, and is the only way to heaven, christians should be kind and of a good heart, and forgiving onto others and spread the good word, and not put other people down, for God is the only judge.

That is a hyper-generalization. That would be like asking why Muslims want to kill everyone who doesn't bow to Allah. You're going to find that attitude in every group you see, whether it be religious, political, social, or economic. That's just a part of human nature. Even some of the most well-intentioned groups can have members who are arrogant and prideful, but it doesn't mean that they speak for the whole group.

We don't think that we are better than anyone else. We simply believe that what we do is something that is worth sharing with everyone!! We offer you the opportunity to be a part of what we believe in!! If you choose not to be a part of it, then it is your choice, after all, we believe that our God gave us beings a beautiful gift, the gift of freedom of choice!!!

We don't believe that we are better than anyone else. Remember that not all who say "Lord, Lord" will inherit the kingdom of heaven, and not all who are christians, catholics, muslims or any other religion will automatically inherit the kingdom of heaven!!!

To go to heaven, you must work your way to heaven.

First of all the Bible Says: "For we have ALL sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God" so we KNOW we're not better because EVERYONE has sinned. Second of all, why don't you ask a christian what they think before you go making assumptions.

Not better, often worse. Just like when Jesus walked the earth it was the harlots, tax collectors, sinners that He had mercy on and so it is today. None is better just forgiven and struggling to put away sin and live in obedience to the one who has so loved us.
