High school is really quite easy, especially compared to private school. A public school will likely be less rigorous academically. Just remember to put your work first and pay attention in class.
To be successful socially, try to meet people who are not necessarily the "popular" group, but the ones who are nice. (They're out there, I promise!) It may be a hard social adjustment at first, but you'll get used to it quickly. Have fun!

I came from a private school too and had a hard time adjusting to the "real" world. Have you visited the school yet? I would walk the halls, find the lockers, try your combo (if you have it). Talk with a few teachers. Get acquainted with school life. If you look like you know what you're doing come day 1, that's half the battle. Find a "friend" within the first week, if you can, and let that person help you through the first month. You'll be fine..just do some research first, that way you don't feel so lost. Don't be hard on yourself.

Depends how you define boring. Some children will definitely find their school boring because its strict. Given that you came from a private school, you should have been more organized than a lot of other students who didn't. High schools are generally more open as far as relationship and socializing in general goes. Just keep an open mind because you might see and hear stuff that you never came across in your private school. A school can be boring that doesn't mean you were brought up boring too. So you shouldn't have much problems. Just talk to people and make friends the normal way.

Just remember this. Everyone that starts high school for the first time is nervous. It is everyone first time in that kind of environment. It will take some getting used to. Try to get your schedule ahead of time, and find out where your locker is. Then you can find out where everything is before the first day. If you can't just remember they supply you with the schedule, and a map of the school. If you can't find something ask a teacher or go to the office. I know at my high school they had people in the halls to help the first few days. Good Luck.

I a junior in high school. The best thing to do to prepare yourself, is when you get your schedule in the summer, then go to the school with it and find all your classes. This way you know where to go before school starts. Also on the first day you really don't need your books cause you get them, and ask around to other grades if the carry there books in back packs or not. In my school most of the girls carry there important things in a pocketbook. And on the first day, don't be shy. There are probably many other people in the same boat as you.

Call your new high school and find out what sports or clubs they have going over the summer. Most public high schools have stuff like this that goes over the summer break. Then join one. This way you can meet some of the kids from your new school, so you'll know people and will have friends and can fit in right away on the first day of classes.

Hahaha! Now, don't jump to conclusions. You're not neccessarily screwed.
If you have any friends in public school, ask them who you ought to stay clear of. Other than that, be friendly, don't be afraid to ask questions, and be careful about the cafeteria's "rosy applesauce." Don't eat too much the first day, or you'll turn inside out... just kidding.
Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much. While HS may have some really rotten moments, generally it's a pretty neat 4 years of your life.

Don't sweat it! Do you know anyone from public h.s. you could talk to & ask some good Qs? On your first day just look around & do what everybody else is doing. Maybe you'll have an oreintation day to give you leg up. I'm sure things won't be that different & besides, it's only really bad the first week. Good luck!

Locker's are the least of your problems in high school. In fact, they can be your little sanctuary at times. Just be yourself!!! I know that sounds like it should be the easiest thing in the world to do, but it's not when you are surrounded by people who expect you to be just like them. Hold your head high, look people in the eyes when you talk to them, and genuinely smile. People will take notice of you whether you want them to or not, so stay true to YOU.
