Yes - I see it every day which saddens me considerable. Being a parent myself, I struggle very hard to maintain communication yet not cross that line of having him hate me. I am fortunate that my son and I discuss things and find that without that, I would have lost him a long time ago.
The only problem I see with other parents is that they take no time to accept their kids as human/individuals - and do everything they can to occupy their time(sports/classes) or ignore them ;-(
Now the trick is: what to do to help those kids that are on the verge of rebelling? It is a shame the internet is open to be so easily abused where kids are taken advantage of - but openly discussing issues can really help.

All kids rebel and they all rebel in different ways. I think pressure from the parents can have alot to do with it though. I think when parents put alot of pressure on their kids then the kids feel like have to please their parents all the time in everything they do and it should be that way in my opinion. Kids should be aloud to make mistakes and get into trouble because thats how they learn. If the parents are always pressuring them, then the kids never have a chance to sit back and relax.

No. All kids turn rebellious at some stage of life. It's natural.

Rebellion to some extent will always happen... although having boundaries goes well with open communication. laying down rules but allowing discussion when the child gets older is always a good idea.
