My husband works in a bottle factory. A pallet of 2lt bottles costs more and has less bottles than a pallet of 20oz bottles. So that makes the 20oz. a lot cheaper for the company. Yet, we are still all paying more for about a fourth of the soda! Why do we do that. We wouldnt pay more for a snack size bag of cheetos than a family pack!!!

Could it be that all we want to drink is a 20oz. If I bought a 2liter, I would drink a 2 liter and I know that would not be good for me. the 20oz is bad enough for me but given a choice, I would take the 20oz over the 2 liter in spite of the extra cost.

I pay 25 cents a 20 ounce bottle of coke, 15 cents for a 12 ounce can, and 50 cents for a 16 ounce Rockstar. Ha Ha the perks of working at coke. It only cost Coca Cola 2 cent to manufacture a 12 ounce can everything else is profit

I work for a grocery store. I see it all the time. The 20 oz. are refrigerated. The 2 liters are not. Also, since we are near a highway AND truck stop, we get alot of travelers. Since we also have a super salad bar and a variety of prepared foods, people just want to grab and go. Tell me whether or not you'd rather try to drive and guzzle a 2 liter bottle of warm soda; or bring it back to your workplace on lunch break.

The 20 ounce bottle is convenient. That's what we're paying for. Not the volume

Besides... a 2 liter bottle won't fit in the cup-holder of your car.

It's also difficult to drink from directly, necessitating a glass and perhaps ice.

The family pack of individual bags stays fresher longer than a two liter botle of soda. SO having three or four 20 oz bottle son hand virtualy guarantees always-fresh soda, as opposed to always opening the two liter.

A fourth of a 2 liters is about 17 ounces, but your question is still valid. The reason is that we can hold a 20 ounce bottle in our hands, and we can't drink out of a 2 liter bottle.

Because a 20oz is cold, and a 2 liter isn't.
And generally, when a person buys a 20 oz, they wanted to drink it that instant.

We are paying for the convenience and easy portability of a cold drink that will more than likely be consumed in one sitting, and stay fairly cold with little loss of carbonation. Convenience is expensive, but as long as we continue to justify it, it won't change.
