When we had our baby my BIL was a little upset when my husband did not tell him before he told my in laws.

He got over it. Just remember that the important thing is to always make the child avaiable for him/or her to spend time with the BIL.

My BIL has been in many fights with us and we always make sure that our son is always able to spend time with him. He has even spent the weekend with him. Remember that he is the uncle and that means a lot to the BIL.

My oldest brother did not speak to my family for 2 years and my other 2 brothers were not able to see my 2 nephews. It was horrible for not only my brothers but it was horrible for my nephews. To this day my youngest nephew still acts funny around my 2 brothers like he does not know them very well.

Your BIL will come around. If he never does by not keeping the child away from him you will have nothing to feel guilty about.

remember that it isnt about yall anymore.this is a touchy situation, but you should sit down with the brother in law and find out what the real issue is, and if you cant solve it, tell him you love the child and want to be part of its life, and at least find a way to be civil.you must respect each other, you dont have to like each other.

don't get involved in any family problems...stay neutral and enjoy the new baby!
