I have found that a solution made of peroxide and baking soda can remove any smell. Even the smell of skunk after my cat got sprayed. Believe me, this really does work.

When you say cat odor, do you mean urine? If that is what you mean then I can answer this for you. This may sound a bit strange, but trust me it works. Find an automatic dish-washing detergent, usually a cheap brand, that has enzymes. I have used it to wash clothes, cleaned spots on a rug, and even cement. Like with anything test in an unobtrusive area before applying on entire spot. I personally have never had any problem, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Try a mixture of equal amounts of vinager, amonia and water. Add some baking soda. Put the mixture into a spray bottle and spray the area well, let sit a few minutes and place towels on top of the area. Either step on it for awhile or pile books on top till the moisture is absorbed into the towels. Remove and repeat until the smell is gone.

we had that problem after we brought a male cat in.Our female didn't like him and shee started peeing in the same spot.We did everything under the sun.It didn't work.We ended up pulling up the carpet. The smell was soaked into the wood underneath. So I encapsulated it with a few coats of poly urethane. Then we laid a laminate floor like Pergo. Now the whole house is laminate flooring and ceramic tile.We have rugs all over. When and if one of the cats pee on them I take the rug outside and carpet clean it.The smaller rugs can be cleaned in the washer.Cat urine is a smell that is hard to remove. If you love your cats like we do you'll go the extra yard to keep them.

I'm not sure that cat ever gets out completely, but have you tried a solution of water and vinegar? Not too much vinegar, obviously, because then your carpet will smell like cats and rotten eggs. Of course I don't have to tell you not to use balsamic vinegar. Won't make that mistake twice!

There are many products out there to remove cat odor. But test said products on an inconspicuous area for color-fading.

Try baking soda and white vinegar. If you still have a cat in the house, do NOT use ammonia because, to a cat it, it smells like urine, so they will try to mark the spot again. I like Simple Green because its non-toxic and biodegradable, but its not a home remedy.

I'm not sure on a certain recipe or anything, but get a black light- the stain will glow when the black light is used. This will tell you if you got all the urine.
