My boyfriend has a cat (his name is Sinatra) He usually bites when he wants attention or no longer wants it. For example, when I wake up-- If I don't show him attention, he will try to bite at my ankle. However, thanks to my cat-like reflexes and a spray bottle of water, he no longer lunges at my leg like a wild animal. I read in a book that cats will continue to do behavior that gets them what they want. So, I ask you, what do you do when the cat bites? Hopefully, it's something that he dislikes so that the cat learns not to do so...There is one challenge to this whole equation though. There are some cats that like displeasurement. So, you could be reprimanding your cat and giving him exactly what he wants. I personally can't wait to get a dog.

One thing to consider would be gout. It commonly affect the big toe joint. Red, hot and very painful without trauma. The only true way to make the diagnosis is to aspirate the fluid and look for crystals, but most clinicians would simply treat it with anti-inflammatories and/or pain medications until it improves. Hope that helps.

I think that may be your cats way of saying "feed me please"
Or.
Cats do some strange things. One of my cats likes to just go nuts rubbing his head on my ankle and heel when I wash the dishes. Only when I wash the dishes. I cannot figure out why... maybe your cat is just a weirdo like mine.

I think your cat wants to play. My cat likes a koosh ball tied to a string, which is then tied to the end of a cane (you can use a long stick). Then you can just sit on the couch and swing the koosh ball around from the cane and the cat will chase it around the floor and up on the couch and jump up to get it. It's good excersise for the cat - although, doesn't do much for me.

perhaps she is being affectionate by playing with you. she could also want you to get up to change the water or something
if you want her to stop, when she does, pick her up and tell her no in a not too loud voice. when she stops give her a treat each morning for being so good.

She wants you to play with him/her. It's time you got up! The cat has been quiet for you all night long and now that you are awake, he/she wants to make you stay awake and start your day off with a playful start!

I will now interpret your cat's thoughts...
"Get up lazy human! Feed me! Pet me! Love me! Do it now!"
I think that should sum it all up!
