Try it for only 15 or 30 seconds and add a sweetener. The longer you brew a cup the more bitter it will taste. Also, have you tried the herbal tea's?

Try a different brand of tea. What you call "bitter" I might call strong. There is enough tea in a bag to brew two 6 oz. cups of tea.

There are two methods. If you are brewing it in a teapot using leaves then put just a dash of baking soda into the teaball. The bitter taste is from the tannic acid in the tea. Or you can use even more acid such as lemon or mint leaves to impart a more "citric" taste or as in the case of mint leaves a fresher taste. I hope this helps.

My ex-girlfriend's grandmother had actually passed this on to me... It is what I do now every day when I have tea. You brew a cup of tea as normal with one bag in your cup, then add two spoons of sugar and one and a half spoons of lemon juice. It tastes amazing! Hope you enjoy.

If you let any tea bag seep too long in the water it gets bitter, because it's strong...just take your teabag out after a few dunks

hmm... 1 min doesn't sound like long.. i keep mine in the teapot for 1/2 day and the tea tastes alright..

maybe it's the brand you're using.. i am used to Lipton's Yellow Label Tea.. the black tea tastes different... dilma's teas are also really good...
maybe you'll have to put the tea bag in, and leave it in the water.. don't jiggle it around too much..

Yeah, Maymie 's right, don't squeeze the bag. And, consider different kinds of tea.
