I don't get it really. Why are we so quick to hate on others that are looking for the same freedoms and opportunities that our ancestors looked for? If only Native Americans had a border back in the 1600's ...

Why Oh Why! do so many people come up with these asinine, inane, and totally ludicrous scenarios to justify illegal immigration. You are making a comparison where there is absolutely no correlation between the two situations. Remember it is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION that this country has a problem with.

Founding Fathers On Immigration

If Native Americans had been unified & had established rules that prevented immigration, then yes. But that's only in the strictest sense of the term "illegal".

In response to an earlier post, the Founding Fathers came here seeking economic prosperity and freedom from oppression & they certainly didn't apply for a green card in order to do it. The immigrants today seek pretty much the same things. Why is it such a stretch to some that today's immigrants (legal and illegal) are compared to the immigrants that founded this nation?

And if the laws were changed so that those who were illegal immigrants became legal immigrants, would y'all's objections to them change? No? Then your objections aren't simply against "illegal" immigrants but to many of the legal ones as well. Take a moment to consider the ramifications of that before you blast away at those lawbreakers (another feature that the Founding Fathers share with today's immigrants.)

Yes. Columbus himself invaded ILLEGALLY and massacred and exploited the LOCAL LEGAL indigenous tribes who had lived here for ages. Then the Europeans came and called everyone after them ILLEGAL! What a forgery this is! The only Americans are the native Indians, and that includes all Mexicans...
What is happening nw has been happening since the bunch of Spanish murderers set foot on this continent:first they were against the English, then against the Germans, French, Itanian, Irish, Russians, CHinese.........EVERY single generation has been against immigration! But do we have Irish?Yes! Germans?Yes! English?Yes. Chinese?Yes.........Now Mexicans?Yes.
This country is founded on immigration and legal is absolutely the same as illegal, because until 20 years ago there were NO difference. Now the laws have changed and the Mexicans etc are the new scape goats...Just like in Nazi Germany!

Technically they were not illegal because back in the day there were no borders or checkpoints. But lets look back at what we are saying. Our founding fathers were running from government rule in the eurpean nations and were given asylum, they didn't ask anyone (native americans). Yet now that other people from other countries seek asylum we deny it? There is no right to do that, no one has that right. If you ask me only Native Americans should decide. Oh and DAR, if you are here in the country illegally you get no help from the government. So I have no idea what you are talking about!

No they were not, they were here legally. The United States is what people are trying to enter illegally, so it is only the laws of the United States that are relevant. My ancestors came legally. More to the point, there were no subsidized services for the poor at that time making others pay for their benefits. Now all countries that subsidize education and other benefits for the poor limit how many poor immigrants can come in. They want us to pay for them, after they have been stealing the services we pay for and overcrowding our schools so our own children get poorer education. My ancestors certainly never did that!
