Evolution of a crazy made up belief system:
1. Someone dreams it up, or distorts a historical event. The believers are a minority. At this stage the belief is called: A Cult.
2. The believers convert others, it becomes a common belief held by the majority or a large minority of people. At this stage the belief is called: A religion.
3. A new belief system gains in popularity. It seems more believable and rational and overtakes the old one. After many years no one (or very few people) believe the old one. At this stage the belief is called: Mythology.
Currently the Moonies and a few others are in stage 1. Scientology is beginning the transition from 1 to 2. Mormans and Jehova Witnesses are finishing the transition from 1 to 2. Christianity is in the later stages of 2 (hopefully Science and reason will push it into 3). The Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Norse gods are in stage 3.
Basically the label has nothing to do with truth, its more a matter of current popularity.
To the people above that say its different because Jesus was a real person: So was David Koresh so I guess the Branch Davidians weren't a cult but were the one true religion. His disciples claimed to see him perform miracles too. I saw David Copperfield perform what lots of people in times past would have thought were miricles, he must be a god too.

The myth is that these people are gods. If they performed miracles they could have been prophets like Jesus, but not gods.
The Bible states that Jesus performed miracles by God's permission. The idea that Jesus is God is a myth, just as the idea that such other people in history are gods, are myths.

I'm a Christian, so I definitely believe Jesus is real. That said, some people who do not share this belief to this day believe his miracles were a myth. Isis wasn't a myth to the ancient Egyptians, but they're gone now. Isis was incredibly real to the people who worshipped her but she hasn't stood the test of time.

Technically Jesus is a myth. The definition of a myth is something a group of people believe in and follow as real.
However, society deems Christianity as the social norm for religion. All religions are myths if you look at the true meaning of the word.

Jesus was in recent history, compared to Egyptian and Greek Gods, so the sources which say he was a real person are generally held to be true. It is generally not contested that Jesus exsisted or that he preached a lot of good things. The miracles he performed may or may not have occurred.

The difference is that Jesus of Nazareth was a real historical figure. The god's of ancient Rome, Greece, Egypt, etc, were not. Another difference was that nobody ever saw a god, thus, nobody ever saw a miracle first-hand, or when they saw something miraculous happen, attributed it to a god, but never seeing the god first-hand.
Jesus, as a real person in history, was believed to be the son in a holy trinity of the christian god, by the people he communed with during his 3 year ministry. Thousands of people were eye-witnesses to miracles up-close and personal, of which, the closest eye-witnesses, the 12 apostles, wrote the 4 canon gospels to recount what they saw first-hand with their own eyes. Nobody ever saw Zeus as anything but a giant statue in a beautiful temple in Greece, performing miracles and communing with people.

Since christianity is the "ruling" religion around these parts, it's not considered a myth. Ask someone 5,000 years from now, I think that's how long we've been alive right?, who jesus is and I'm pretty sure they'll tell you the myth about his miracles he performed.

Well Jesus's existence isn't in question he is a true historical figure like Cesar or Alexander the Great.
Gods like Zeus and Isis are not considered to be historical figures but myths.
The nature of what Jesus did is questionable and debatable but many sources show he was a real person.

Because gods such as isis are from the study of mythology, not real, but fictional gods. Same as gods such as pegasus which are from the stars. These are all fictional gods. JESUS is real, He walked the earth, He performed miracles on earth that real people saw not just in fairy tales.

The ancient Egyptians worshiped Isis and then their entire culture dumped the religion for Islam. Same thing with Viking, they had Thor, they became Christian. When the creators of the ancient religions change, that tells you they don't even believe in their old gods.
Not to mention there is historical evidence that Jesus existed in the past. He is written about in numerous political and religious texts from that time.
