Two years ago I weighed 200 lbs at age 44. With grown daughters now facing weigh problems I once again tackled this issue. I lost 70 lbs in 13 months using two methods. I first asked at a local pharmacy for a good multivitamin to perhaps give me some energy to get moving. They recommended One A Day WeightSmart for Women-always taken with food. I did nothing different than adding one pill daily and within 2 weeks I began to feel more rested and energized. Over the next 31/2 months I lost 20 lbs! These events encouraged one of my daughters to give weigh loss a try.
She began a program called "Provida Six Week Body Makeover" by Michael Thurmond. She lost 50 lbs in just under 5 months! Another daughter lost 40 lbs. I lost the remaining 50 lbs using this program. As with anything productive, this involves time and effort, but IT WILL WORK. Mainly a balance of proteins and carbs 6 times a day with water at each meal. You prepare all your food with easily found ingredients made from hundreds of recipes and a very supportive forum! I did none of the exercises so I have some toning to do and sometimes I start to gain weight. But I just return to the plan and loss what I need. The first step is to go to the website and do a body profile www.provida.com and find the Six Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond.
Good Luck!

Since this has worked for me, I would suggest moderate excericise (i.e. walking 20 minutes, yoga, etc.) and train yourself to listen to your body...by that, I mean...when you are full (not stuffed) to stop eating! Try to drink water before your meals or something else healthy (not sodas!). I also try to eat all of my vegetables first and then my protein, then carbs. The vegetables for the fiber and nutritional content, and the protein for energy production. I tend to not eat as much as other people, and I try to fast once a week, to give my system a rest. This has worked for me for a very long time and I have nipped my weight problems and fluctuations in the bud! Also, remove the word "diet" from your vocabulary forever! Your eating habits and excercising have to become part of your lifestyle. It is a lifestyle change not a diet! Diets do not work! Remember, to check with your medical professional before starting any excercise program.

Diet and exercise. Pick an exercise you enjoy! Stay away from fatty foods and processed foods AND don't eat after 7:00 pm!
I lost 20 pounds in approx. 6 months by running every other day, watched what I ate and did not eat late. It was safe, healthy, toned up, higher energy and looked better than ever!

Exercise every day, even if it's just a walk. Go on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Eat fish, eggs, chicken, occasional lean beef or pork, low fat cottage cheese. Stay away from regular cheese, no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, beans (except green beans). No fruit and no fruit juice (it's sugar water, my dr says). Cut down on carrots and tomatoes (included ketchup). Use mustard instead of mayonnaise in recipes. Eat lots of salads, green vegetables. Salads only have one tablespoon of dressing for the whole salad. No ice cream, or other desserts. 8 glasses of water a day. No caffeine

I think the 3 main points are lots of water... excerise, even if its only walking 1/2 hour a day, and food... you have to eat breakfast... to get your metabolism started..then 2 1/2 - 3 hrs later you need to eat fruit or veggies..to keep the metabolism burning..and then eat a good lunch..and then again 2 1/2- 3 hrs..eat fruit or veggies..and then a sensible dinner... the keys is to not starve yourself, but dont stuff yourself either.... its hard..belive me I KNOW FIRST HAND...but the more you are aware..the better off you are.
