When you hear that it probably comes in the sentence "I want to hear you like the sound of one hand clapping". Try it and you should be able to figure it out.

It is really a kind of an insult. It means you have asked a question that should not have been asked...some people lately say "DUH" to imply the same thing. Like it was obvious.
