I think teenagers like to use bad words because it makes them feel more grown up. If you'll watch them they will be talking, but when they use bad words they say them louder. Like they want people to hear how cool they are because they can say fu*k! It sounds silly, but I remember wanting to be grown up so badly I would swear all the time because then I sounded the part. I had no idea how stupid I sounded until I really did grow up! Now I get embarrassed for these young girls. On the bus the other day (people take buses to work around here) there was a girl that was about 14 or 15 singing, "Lick this pus*y just like you should." Everyone thought she looked and sounded really silly. But she thought she sounded grown up. And their peers think the same thing. So you have a group of girls/guys who think it sounds cool and grown up so everyone has to talk like that to be accepted. Does that make sense???

Easy... because teenagers grow up in a world full of bad examples. And because teenagers live to do things that they know are bad so they can be cool and popular. Hence why most people start smoking as teenagers, and drinking, and having sex and other drugs... some just swear a lot...

Well I think the reason why teenagers use curse words is because growing up there are alot of things that we are forbidden to do. When we become a certain age and are given more liberties we tend to use them to our advantage instead of using them in a better way. But I say F**k it and as long as they are not hurting anyone or themselves. There are alot more important things that we should be worrying about with our teenagers than what stupity comes out of their mouths.

Teenagers like to use bad words for many reasons. I know that we teenagers fall under the pressure of being "in". This causes us to use slang or bad language to make ourselves seem like the rest of the cool people, even if they aren't making the right decision. We also use bad language when we get mad at people or when we pick on others that are of lower class to us.

1. because we all live in sinful world (not just teenagers), that's
why we sin and there is immediate grativication in sin.

2. the media portrays bad people as cools. guess what, the teenagers who are confused in placing themselves in the world spectrum then choose what being portrayed as cool.

3. the parents do it. the neighbors do it. guess what, the teenagers learn from example and do it worse. it is the 2nd law of thermodynamics (the next state will always be less than that of the initial state).

A few reasons....

First, the fact that the words are called "bad" makes it appealing to a lot of young people. People always crave the forbidden fruit.

Secondly, saying curse words might make some young people feel more grown-up.

It also doesn't help that media (music, movies, etc) are filled with swear words. If a young guy idolizes a certain rapper and constantly hears him say certain words, he will want to mimic that behavior.

Having raised a daughter to 25, a 13 year-old son still at home, and myself growing up through the "down-with-the-man" 60's and free-love 70's I must admit I've experienced PLENTY of swearing across multiple generations. I believe teenagers' use of slang and "bad words" in their language is two-fold:

Some think it's cool. But most do it simply because everyone else does. It's not that they think it's cool to do it, but that it's uncool not to. That's how society is-- "bad words" have become acceptable. And teenagers, who are growing up, want to be as much a part of scoiety as they can. This is what "adults" do, so they feel they should do it to.

I do believe that teenagers like to use bad words is because they
lack the knowledge of the correct words. And also that some of
them think that it is more adultlike.

One answer might be rebellion, which is what teenagers do -- they rebel. Another answer might be they don't want the image of being a "goody 2 shoes" so they curse to make them look bad on purpose. I know the second answer is true because my mom did it when she was in school.
