Because it is a War. It would not be called war if people did not die. This question is stupid because it is loaded. Why do people lie why do people steal. The world sucks man, and you better get used to it. This country has been weakend by questions like this, it WW2 we bombed Berlin to the ground and no one stopped and said, why do we bomb the Nazis if we know we are going to kill civilians. Apparently you want to live in a dream world where everyone gets along, look where that got John Lennon.

It's called a war. When the enemy surrounds themselves with innocent (or not so innocent) civilians, doesn't wear uniforms, uses women and children as weapons, just how are our forces to distinguish between combatant and non-combatant? No war has ever been fought where innocent civilians did not get caught in the crossfire....the difference is that this enemy chooses to fight from amongst the innocent, solely to increase the level of collateral damage. They are truly evil.

Because the people who decide when and where to drop those bombs aren't thinking about those innocents as human beings.

Why do we? Why does the enemy? Ever hear of road side bombs going off and killing innocent civilians? We are not the only ones who do it.

My sister is in the US Army and i asked her the same question. She gave me all sorts of bullshit answers that didn't really make any sense. Like, "we have to go in and get the bad people that may or may not be in there and sometimes the innocent do get caught". I think that it's nonsense and our troops should come back home and mind their own damn business. Since Bush is so focused on Iraq, why doesn't he send his family and friends over there to get what he wants?

Because in modern war, you do what you can to avoid civilian casualties, but with high explosives, it's a bit hard. You have no control over where the civilians go. But to win a war, you have to drop that bomb and take out that target.
It is unfortunate, it is sad, but it is one of the hard realities of war and cannot be avoided.

I am in no way supporting the senseless killing of innocent lives, but it would be naive to think no civilians are going to be killed in war. It is just a by-product of war.

if you were the pilot of a plane and you knew it was going to kill 2,000 people, but you had the chance to fly it into a lake and just kill yourself. what would you do. you would kill the fewest people you would just kill yourself. So that others might live
