usually custom made is more expensive and can take six weeks or more to deliver. it really depends on what you want and if you can find it in stock. Make sure it is a reliable dealer and not someone who promises you everything in no time. Good luck!

We just got our couch last Thur. special order from Marshall Fields. They told us 6 to 8 weeks for one from North Carolina, 8 to 12 for one from Italy. We chose the American made one. 2 Weeks past the 8 week deadline after not hearing a word from them we called and found out the Mexican ( that's right ) manufacturer was having a delay and it would be 2 or 3 more weeks. When we asked why it was being made in Mexico, it was because they said they use a variety of manufacturers. We ordered our couch in Feb and got it the 1st week of June, you do the math.We could've gotten a couch from Italy in that time. Basically they will tell you the ole 6 to 8 week thing but they have no control over the manufacturer so it's place an order and hope for the best. On a lighter note the couch is beautiful was it worth the wait Yes Good luck !!!

Ordering a custom couch can take a bit longer than ordering one that is just not in stock at the moment. The time that it can take will be determined by several factors. If for instance you are wanting hand carved black walnut it may take much longer for the handcarvng to be done and to locate the black walnut in the amount needed for your couch. You should know the history of the company that you are considering ordering a custom couch from as to whether they usually complete an order in a reasonable length of time or whether they have a history of taking a long time to deliver a custom couch. The reputation of the company that you deal with will be a factor that would help you know what to expect as far as time to complete the order and quality of workmanship.
In most instances custom couches will be more expensive than stock orders. The reasons for this are obvious as to respect of special requests for material, design and special requests such as carving, etc.
As to whether to buy one from stock or to custom order it, that would be determined by your needs and ability to pay or the timeframe in which you need the couch.

Certainly, it's going to cost more to have something made especially for you. As far as a time frame is concerned, that would depend on what you're having made, and where it's coming from. I've had custom made furniture imported from Europe, and it's taken anywhere from 2 to 6 months!

Usually 8-12 weeks. They are usually more expensive, but how much more depends on the type of fabric, framing, etc.

I would suggest you buy from a (stock) furniture company, because they're so expensive.
