I am a keralite. I am about to work in chennai. The last time I had been there I had problems with indigestion and fell sick because of the food I had to eat. It wasn't bad food I ate; I think its the change in oil - people use mustard oil for dishes, I guess. In my place people use cocunut oil. After I came back from Chennai my stomach was not fine for another week!

Well, now I am supposed to be working and living there. So how must I cope with all this? And if you suffer from indigestion, is drinking milk good or bad?

What you should do, I suggest for you to see your doctor, dietician or nutritionist about eating good and bad food on top of drinking good and bad milk. If I were you, you should drink lactose free milk like I do. In other words, I do not drink regular milk because it makes my stomach sick and I would just throw-up. That is why I stick with healthy foods and drink lactose free milk to be on the safe side. I noticed before I was dianosed with breast cancer on my right side, I ate bad food down here at the Pentagon at Christmas time and I choked and vomitted up my food, which taught me a big lesson. I had changed my diet recently because I am receiving cancer treatment for breast cancer and on April 10, 2006, I had a biopsy/lumpectomy and April 24, 2006 I underwent a completion right Axillary node dissection at Mount Vernon Hospital on Parkers Lane, and had 15 lymph nodes removed. Only two of my lymph nodes showed up positive and 13 of my lymph nodes showed up negative. I am halfway through with chemotherapy and the next thing coming up will be radiation therapy. One thing at a time.

milk is good for heart burn, so I guess it depends on what exactly happens when your tummy gets upset (and which end gets it the worst). If you can't start using some of the same oil or eating at some ethnic restaurants gradually at home, I'd prepare by bringing some "first aid" with you: immodium, pepto, tums, etc
