Hi Martin,
No! Chivalry is not dead. I can definitely relate to how you feel right now. It's very common for young and naive girls to hang out with the jerks that don't treat them well. Don't compromise your noble values and do not become discouraged because of this. Believe it or not, those girls will come around and see that they rather be treated well by a gentleman then hang out with a bunch of creeps.
But this won't happen for at least 10 years....
But you are still in the game! Just change your strategy. You should always respect women, but that doesn't mean you have to grovel to their every wish. Open the door for them when you go out. But stop short of forking over your paycheck at dinner. You need to strike a balance betweeen treating them well and keeping them interested.
Just because you dont treat for every meal or give into every one of their demands doesn't make you less of a gentleman. Make sure you let them know that you are your own person and even though you are a gentleman, you will not let them disrespect you. That there are lines that they must not cross.
Hope this helps.

I think it is very hard to find a gentleman in today's generation and I think chivalry is for the most part dead. However, you should keep doing what you are doing, because the girls that like men who treat them wrong will very soon see that the qualities they find in men like you are what they are really looking for.
Good luck and stay strong!

congratulations young man! chivalry is not dead. be patient and the kind of girl that appreciates a door being opened for her will come your way.
so refreshing to hear of the younger generation with old fashioned values.
note of advice - chivalry works both ways - girls can do things for you too.
if you act like a gentleman, then you will always have a lady at your side!

Chivalry isn't dead... but gratitude may be on it's last legs. These girls are just not mature enough to appreciate your kindness. HOWEVER, make sure you aren't going overboard and making the girls feel a little too overwhelmed. What's overboard? It's different for everyone, but if you pay attention you should be able to see it when it happens.

Heyo! You must not lower yourself to act less then you are. A true man, is authentic! Don't let the "children" around you make you feel like less then what you really are. A MAN! Real men do care about things, like respecting other people, doing the right thing, and being who they are. It is truly better to be a honest, genuine, and caring man, then to "feel popular," with the weenies around you who are not mature enough to know better. When the girls that are your age see how truly "cool," you are, as in, how real you are, they'll come around! Mean while, don't sweat it, go for a long run, and relax on yourself! Peace. :)

this is because they are young, but don't worry guys like you win the best girls in the long run. think about it this way, do you really want to be with a girl that has so little self respect that she will tolerate being treated that way? no, of course not, its a total turn off and those girls will not amount to anything if they don't get their poop in a group real soon anyway. just keep being you, you'll find a girl that appreciates you and she'll be worth waiting for.

Aint that true honey! what you need is to find someone who knows what she wants and is not looking to be "cool" or "in". girls hang out with boys like that becaue they think that is the way they are supposed to be treated. Lucky for them you've come along and are going to show them the way a woman should be treated;-) good luck and dont stop trying!

Chivalry is misogynistic. Comes from the Knights code, though is often tossed around as some kind of social grace. Specifically, it stems from the code: Thou shalt respect all weaknesses, and shalt constitute thyself the defender of them. The weaknesses, of course, generally meaning women. To assume that role presupposes your power over women. You don't want chivalry, you just want to be nice.
As for the ladies, work on your confidence. Those guys aren't rude, they just confident enough not to worry about upsetting the girls. And girls want to be around the guys who don't need to "be nice" to get people to hang out with them.
