i cannot believe im reading these answers ,probably about 85-90% but the majority is because their fathers and grandfathers ,and greatgrandfathers before them all supported celtic it is all about religion and bigotry and im not just talking about celtic rangers supporters are exactly the same ,questions like this come up all the time from both teams and clowns come on saying its the minotity ,yet any time my team plays either of them ,when all the sectarian and bigoted songs are being sang i dont see very many celtic or rangers supporters NOT singing ,and thats a fact if you dont believe me just look at your own dvd or video collection and listen to the songs in the background and look at the crowd there all singing ,just admit it the majority of old firm fans are sectarians and bigots

Celtic was formed by a Brother in the Catholic Church. The support mainly came from the immigrant Irish community who settled in Scotland in the 1880s. As a result of this Celtic still draw a lot of their support from the catholic community.
What would be an another interesting question is how many of the Celtic supporters who claim to be catholic still attend church every sunday. I suspect not a lot.

Neither know or more to point really care. Taff should be put up against a wall and shot for suggesting that EVERYONE is a bigot North of hadrians wall too lol. Wonder what Taff does wi a sheep and a pair of wellies, mmmmmmmm (food for thought lol).

Well, I'd guess around 80%-90% (me being one of them!), but in truth it doesn't matter - football and religion are two different things! The main reason I support Celtic is because my uncle played for them, and my brother works for them.

i am a Protestant and proud of it .i have supported Celtic all my life it doesn't matter what religion you are to most of us only the bigot minority . most of whom support rangers.
