spray your hair with lemon juice and go play in the sun. you will get natural auburn highlights. be careful using anything else (ie sun-in, peroxide) as you will end up with a very undesirable shade of fall harvest colors in your hair (orange, brassy gold)

do NOT pour beer on your hair!! alcohol dries out your hair (i.e. gel, hairspray) The only thing that olive oil will do is hydrate your hair. So both products counter effect one another. Honestly, the most effective solution is to put lemon juice in your hair while your in the sun (or right before you go to the tanning bed). However, no matter what you do, after any kind of color change, make sure you hydrate your hair with a deep conditioner or even olive oil.

You can't effectively lighten your dark hair at home. At-home kits will probably make the hair turn red (like sun-in or home highlighting kits). Olive oil will moisturize it and help keep it healthy/shiny - but won't lighten it.
Your best bet is to wait until you have your own money to spend to get it done by a pro (when your older and don't have to follow orders at home). Enjoy your dark hair before it turns grey!

I think the best way for you to lighten your hair to go to the drugstore at get a box of washable hair color. So when you you are done with that color you can wash it out and you can go back to your old hair color. And also when your Mom ask why is your hair a different color just say it is washable.

I think if you use olive oil, your hair will lighten in the sun.

use a rinse (a hair dye that rinses out after a few showers). choose the color you want, then pick one a few shades lighter then that. that way it will be more noticable, and more close to the color you want then the color on the box.
