Yes it does. Some brands put an expiration date on their bottle. The effectiveness of it gets reduced over time and usually only a year, although some can last up to 3 years if stored properly. Things to consider are where you store the lotion, because heat can make it go bad earlier. I have also noticed the scent of many of the tanning lotions go bad and no longer smell pleasant, so you would most likely want to replace it if the product doesn't smell as good as it should.

This is kind of a myth to get you to buy more sunscreen. I found an old bottle of 5 yr old 'equate sports sunscreen' spf 50 and was out in the sun for 8 hours, no burn at all. It probably depends on the type of sunscreen, but the old walmart brand works fine for me even after 5 years.

i would suggest keeping it no longer than 1 year. I did a lab in my organic chemistry class and it showed some older sunscreens lost a few important compounds. the worst sunscreen was Bull Frog. Best was Neutrogena. Also the most expensive, but it guards against both UVA and UVB very well.

yes, there is an expiration date on the bottle, If it’s expired, the active ingredients may no longer absorb UV light.

Absolutely, usually sunscreen only lasts about 1 year, it can start to break down sooner if you keep it in a hot area (i.e. glovebox)
