Try visiting www.petfinder.com. They are a site that lists dogs up for adoption and lists their sizes. The adoption counselor will be able to tell you how big a certain dog will get, or you can get a dog a few months older and know their personality, how big they will be, if they are potty trained, and if they have any issues.

My personal favorites are the retrievers. They are loyal, smart, obedient, and loving. As for a medium size dog I would look in to a Sheltie, Cocker Spaniel, Beagle, or Pug. Most weigh anywhere from 20-40 lbs. depending on how you keep their health. All are decently energetic and playful. All are very loving. Out of all 4 of those breeds above I would say the beagle will be the hardest to train. All are good choices though. I've been around many Shelties and Cockers. They have all been great, sweet, and playful. One day I will own a pug, but right now I have a Chocolate Lab and Golden Retriever and the house is just big enough for those 2 :).

All puppies are adorable, what you need to consider is what the dog will be like when he/she's older, and how you feel about different sizes, temperments and energy levels, whether you're going to keep the dog in the house or in a fenced area. Once you've done your homework, you can visit some of the pet sites and ask questions about what breeds will be a fit for what you're looking for, but the key is to remember that puppies grow up to be dogs.

I actually have a narrative for you. I actually have a pal who has a wiener canines. It were given bred yet she did not understand by ability of what breed. at the same time as the pups were born they sounded like wiener canines, era. although the probabilities of the dad being one too are slender and none proper? So, she takes them to a puppy keep and they offer her $25 a piece for them. How a lot do they promote them for? $350. and they stated they were organic breds. so that you spot how they misinform make money? you may bypass to a seem after to get a puppy. Please, it really is going to save a existence and they gained't misinform you.

You need to invest in an encyclopedia of dog breeds and make a list of likes and dislikes in your ideal dog. Then go through the encyclopedia and find a dog that mathces closely to your list. Don't be turned off by size or looks. It doesn't matter how big or how pretty/ugly your dog is as long as he/she is a good fit for your family.

I'm sure everyone had their preferred breed...however ....upon researching this myself I discovered beagles are awesome with children, they are very resilient & they are extremely intelligent.

While they "bay" it's not really a bark...this is par for their breed & part of their personality.

They have a great life expectancy, especially if they are well cared for.

If kept inside they are naturally clean animals & if brused do not shed excessively like many other breeds.

They are friendly & in-tune with human emotions. They will become your children's and your best friend.

Good luck! :-)

Check out the Purina Dog Breed Selector. You can choose different traits(size, personality, etc.) It's a very cool tool for finding a breed that suits you.

I got a yellow labrador puppy, females are really smart, good with kids and obidient when trained. If you allow the time for a dog to bond with the family, you'll have no problems

i have a Shih Tzu, and it is fun when people think that you call your dog a shi*, but they are sometimes annoying. they are also sweet. i love terriers, alsthough there are about a million different kinds. i had a bichon, but did no tespecially like it. however, if you want something a little bigger, i absolutely adore cockapoos, which are a mix of cocker spaniels (love them!) and poodles (ours didnt inheret the excessive barking gene). what dog you should get really depends on your wants and needs, as well as what you can give your dog.
